Avenue Veterinary Clinic
Avenue Veterinary Clinic is proud to serve the Tacoma, WA area for everything pet-related. Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital is run by Dr. Sabari Haviland, who is a licensed, experienced Tacoma veterinarian. Our team is committed to educating our clients in how to keep your pets healthy year round, with good nutrition and exercise.

Avenue Veterinary Clinic stays on top of the latest advances in veterinarian technology and above all, remembers that all animals and pets need to be treated with loving care in every check-up, procedure, or surgery.
Services
The basis of all good medicine begins with the examination. While everyone at Union Avenue Veterinary Hospital is a true animal lover and want to help every pet in need, we are bound by many federal and state laws. Thus, the need to schedule your pet for an appointment before offering any medical advice or treatment.
In your search for a veterinary facility, we believe you should expect high quality care as well as great service. Our goal has been to assemble a veterinary health care team committed to providing exceptional client service and veterinary health care. Our commitment to you is to continue to offer our world class service and a state of the art veterinary facility.
1. Payment is expected when services are rendered. In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill. All cards must be signed by the owner of the card. 3. When unexpected illness strikes a pet, unexpected expense strikes as well. Avenue Veterinary Clinic understands this and is able to make some special arrangements through the Scratchpay program.
Avenue Veterinary Clinic offers a progressive approach to veterinary care. Our clinic embraces a focus on preventative medicine based on the specific life-stage of your pet. Each patient is assessed individually based on factors such as species, breed, age, and environmental challenges. During your visit we will offer recommendations for prevention, nutrition, and diagnostic work-ups appropriate for your pet.
Blood tests are an essential part of diagnosing what is ailing your pet, just as they are in human medicine. Blood tests can tell the veterinarian a myriad of things, from whether your pet is dehydrated to whether he or she has anemia to whether your cat or dog is suffering from cancer. Red blood cells are used to determine a number of factors.

In darkest times of the beginnings of the COVID 19 lockdown I managed to find this pleasant, efficient vet clinic to care for my little companion, Clyde. Though I've never met the doctor I can tell you that the staff are pleasant, animal sensitive people. Clyde has had everything from some major dental surgery to routine medical care. He seems anxiety free when I hand him over to the staff in their touchless COVID safety protocols and quite content when they return him to me. The clinic communicates rather efficiently by text and email.
Clyde's regular vet is 1000 miles away so I am

I can't say enough about the awesome care Peanut gets when she go to the vet. It's easy to schedule an appointment for Saturday's and I can generally get an idea of the costs prior to her appointment. Also, the staff always makes sure all my questions and concerns are addressed. Finally, attached to my bill is a schedule of Peanut's upcoming vaccines and check ups so I can stay on top of her care.
This place truly cares for your pet and it's easy to tell the entire staff chose their profession because they love animals.

Basic treatment for basic pricing. The two times we've gone in they've tried to sale us thing we don't need, and they never give you a health report or anything just a receipt. They are like the pedigree of vets, good enough to keep your dog alive but not the best you can give your pet. I guess they got to make a living somehow. I trust them with simple vaccinations, but would never trust them with any major procedures. Feels like they specialize on the small quick things, which is smart for quick money.

This place has seriously gone downhill since Dr. Brewster retired. the new staff is nice, but not professional. And, even though we can get our hair cut without a mask now, they still won't let people in with their pets because they are paranoid about Covid. One time I waited almost an hour after my appointment in the parking lot. I had to call them twice before they finally told me that they were running behind but still wouldn't give me a time when they would get to me. I waited 20 more minutes then left. There are plenty of vets around, this one doesn't seem worth it anymore.

All our 3 dogs have been going here for years with our latest Blossom! We have always had a great experience with Dr Brewster but we decided to continue to bring our dogs here with our latest being Blossom. Truly disappointed in their communication skills as my dad showed up @ 9:05am for his 9:25 appointment and everyone else got in except blossom. And at 10am (he is still waiting) I told him to go home now this was scheduled on June 26 2021 on a day that was 100+ degrees so it was already uncomfortable. Anyone long story short the Lack of communication has encouraged us to go out and find another

In June of 2017 Cooney rescued me in September of 2018 I had to rescue him he was very sick and I took him to Avenue Veterinary who helped patch him up and entrusted me with his care. On June 25th 2021 Cooney again got sick and we could not get into Avenue Veterinary at first so I had to take him to a Veterinary Hospital which did not do much to help him we return to the same Hospital the next day when we could not get into Avenue Veterinary but as luck would have it when things weren't going well at the hospital I called again the third time 3 hours later and was told to bring him in. Once again

Finally got a phone call... for writing a bad review, not because my dog was in the hospital or died, but for the bad review! There was a little mix of condolences, but it was the review that caused her to call.

Cant stand this place anymore. The Doctor is all about the money. She actually doesnt care about the animals. I tried relentlessly to get my dogs meds during the COVID pandemic and when I finally got a hold of them they said my dog needed a yearly check to keep getting her meds. "Ok Fine how much will that be?" She quoted me a ridiculous price as usual. I then told her I didnt know if I would he able to pay that amount at this time and she tells me that they would settle for me getting a minimum screening for my dog which would be about $200. Mind you my dogs medicine is another $200

Every visit since has been positive.
Dr. Haviland and her team are amazing. Great handling my dogs and very straightforward. She explains things clearly and addresses any concerns we have. I will continue bringing my pups here and highly recommend her.

Consistent, friendly and caring staff. The vet and technicians are always calm around our dogs, which in turn help our dogs be calm. We've taken our pups here several times and each visit is the same. We trust them with proper care for our pups and to give a fair value for service. Prescriptions are very reasonable. If your pet needs medical attention I recommend Avenue Vet.

We recently moved to Tacoma, and needed to establish care and get our pup some prescription flea relief. We were able to get an appointment quickly, and each staff member we interacted with was warm, patient, and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain different flea control approaches and answer our questions. Our pup got plenty of love too! We'll be back.

Amazing little clinic. We just got a new baby and needed to get her initial vet appointment, so this one was one that had availbity for a walk in. The staff was super friendly and adored our Penelope. I would definitely bring her back here. The vet also gave us extra information on having a new puppy that reassured us.

I am big on word of mouth. My fur baby stepped on a nail last night. I ran to Walgreens on 56th to get supplies the manager there recommended Avenue Veterinary Clinic. I went today and they were so nice, quick to get me in, and gave my baby the TLC he deserves. The best service. A wonderful place to go during a pet emergency. And my bill was only $140. I've had emergency care at a different place before it cost me $800 and the service was terrible. Would recommend if you want honest people, animal lovers, and sincere. Thanks team for everything.

Very professional, clean, and affordable. The staff and Dr. H greeted me and my cat with welcoming smiles. The ladies I talked to kept me up to date, and always informed me how much everything would cost. The clinic opens at 9:00 am, but due to my work schedule were gracious enough to open their doors at 7:30 am. After my cat got neutered they were more than happy to explain how to treat my cat, and answer any questions. My experience here was very enjoyable, and I will be coming back in the future. Pushkin and I thank you!

Terrible experience. First they forgot the appointment I had made a week prior and had to "squeeze me in." Second they gave both my dogs shots they didn't need and charged me $40 dollars for them. Then they charged me a $58 office visit fee I was not told didn't exist when I called to make the appointment. This place is overprived and uncaring, we will not be returning!

Since the new owners I've brought my pet chewy he's a 61/2 lbs Yorkie to see Dr. Sabari Haviland and he was a lil stressed bcuz it's the vet. But the dr handled him with care, to get a couple of shots. And nails trimmed and bravecto for flee treatment I know my pet very well he's a very good judge of character if he doesn't like you neither do I. But he warmed up well with all the staff and that meant a lot since he has approved Dr. Sabari Haviland and the staff I trust them on chewy's health care that they provide. Hope this review will help, for anyone that may have

My very sick dog was welcomed with friendly service and minimal questions. They listened patiently as I explained what I had noticed and thought to be wrong. A surgery was scheduled at the same time we walked in however they quickly got him examined and without judgement got him hooked up for rehydration anti biotics and some anti nausea meds! Cooper is doing great now and I am ever grateful for their kindness and patience with me (lol) and my husband and my beloved dog

Have been taking my fur babies to Dr Brewster for years! He's always compassionate and clearly provides me with their healthcare facts so I can make the choices for their care. Dr Brewster has helped me through rescue dog behavior issues, new puppy physicals and has seen my old dogs gently off to their final rest, when their lives became too uncomfortable. I wish Doc could provide care to people, as his care of my pets frequently outshines the care I receive at my own healthcare clinic!
