Services
I graduated from UNAM with my veterinary degree in 1979. I spent the next six years working as a mixed animal practitioner, gaining experience in equine, cattle, small animal, and emergency medicine. Charlyce and I have never regretted moving to northern Nevada in 1981. Our children grew up here and still return to visit with our grandchildren as often as possible.
At Valley Veterinary Clinic, we take the health care of your companions seriously. We adhere to our standard of care to ensure each and every patient is treated with respect and to the best of our ability. Learn more about our services and standards of care below! Our goal is to provide high quality, complete veterinary care personalized to fit the needs of your animal based on lifestyle and risk factors.
Your kind words mean so much to our team. When you share your feedback, it helps us continue to provide the absolute best care possible for each and every patient. The very best care and concern for our dogs from the front office, technicians and Dr. Altom. Marv always takes time to explain conditions and never rushes to go on to the next patient.

We moved to a ranch in North Valleys so this was our first visit with our new vet. I very much enjoyed our visit. I was pleasantly surprised that he recommend we wait on getting our Yorkie Poo any shots since he had been having regular shots at our old vet and was staying on our ranch and not exposed to other dogs. Due to covid we've been staying home.
He said we didn't need shots! Whoa, I so much appreciate a doctor who does the right thing for our animals even if he looses money over it. Way to go doc! I love these guys!

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Reliability, Responsiveness, Value
I have always had a good experience with them. Never any issues really. They even were very good with my dog that passed not too long ago. She had bone cancer and they helped along her last months and was honest about what was happening with her.

We are new clients to this clinic and could not be happier with the service and the care they give us and our pets. They give you a real feeling of a small family atmosphere with the quality of care you would expect from a large fancy facility. They're GREAT!

We've been coming to Valley Veterinary Clinic for over 3 years and I'm always impressed at how responsive they are. Even during the height of the pandemic they made every effort to communicate COVID 19 protocol and how it affects visits to the vet. Even now, no matter how busy they are, the entire staff are always friendly and compassionate. I highly recommend this business.

They didn't tell me the severity of my dogs condition they also said he "might" have testicular cancer. So we wanted to get him neutered and they were going to charge us 600$, what they didn't tell us is that with his heat condition he would die on the anesthesia, they were going to charge 600 just to kill my dog becuase he "might" have cancer . Take your dog to options clinic they will take better care of them.

Only took our dog here bc she had an emergency situation. They got it mended so I can't complain too much. But it just sucks when it's clear that money is the only focus for an establishment that preaches care. Would not recommend and we personally will not continue bringing any animals here. Look for a vet with a heart instead.

My family just adopted a puppy and needed a vet. I wanted somewhere close to my home and being in North Valleys there ain't many options. That is okay though because we have received quality care at Valley Vet. The staff is happy and helpful. Dr. Lopez is knowledgeable and you can tell she really loves the animals.
The facility is clean, but still has a welcoming atmosphere. Prices seem to be fair.

I know I already gushed but I need to add to my review. This place is truly the best vet office in town.
Our boy with his chronic issues has had to be in the vet office more than normal. We've had more of a chance to see everyone up close and more frequently and have found that we love them more than we originally did, and I didn't think that was even possible.
Hubby says it feels like Valley Vet loves our dog as much as we do. I have never felt that in any other vet office. They're so kind, so compassionate, and so efficient. The ladies at the counter know their stuff too,

My dog was vomiting and had diarrhea and my regular vet turned us away on a Friday. I called Valley Veterinary and they took us in. All staff were kind and considerate to us both and listened carefully to all her background, then recommended a course of action. They are much closer to us, too! The office was not so big that it was overcrowded or overwhelming. I felt we could always get the service we need when we need it. They will be our new regular vet. At last, after dealing with several vets after our move here, I think we have finally found a home. Thank you.

***DO NOT TRUST THEM***
****HORRIBLE HUMANS****
I'll make sure any Fur Parents I know and meet, know this place is horrible.
Turns out this Vet places stitches after surgery with the intention of them falling out and making you come back for full sedation (more bills) to replace the stitches.
Seriously disappointed. Vets like this are why I am so hesitant to take my dog to the Vet in the first place; As if surgery on your loved one isn't bad enough.
I was so hopeful that I had found a good Veterinarian. Shame on you!
I hope and pray my experience was isolated. I wanted to like

Changed vets because my Westie needs a shot every 28 days and going into town in the winter was not working out. He's about a 10 minute drive with no freeway. Perfect for me in the winter. Even tho he goes to get a shot, he still is excited to see everyone. The ladies in the office are exceptional. I can order prescriptions on line and even schedule appointments. So glad I made the change. I highly recommend this office.

My dog was having eye issues so I brought her to Valley Veterinary Clinic. Let me just say that the doctor and staff went above and beyond I had to bring her and my two toddlers with me which was not an easy task since she doesn't have the best behavior on a leash. Their prices are very reasonable and they got us in and out as quickly as possible and even assisted us out to the car since I had my own traveling circus! I will definitely be returning here for all our veterinary needs.

Had a great experience!!!! Our normal vet couldn't see us so called Doc Marvin's office. They worked us in within 2 hrs.
Our 4 legged family member loved entire office and the Doc. The were great!
Beyond our expectations. They had aromatherapy for them and us. And went way beyond and explained everything.
We would highly recommend if you are tired of just traditional medicine. And want compassion
