Windy City Boxing
Clarence Griffin's Windy City Boxing Club is back and running in Chicago's Pilsen Neighborhood. Windy City Boxing is Chicago's throwback boxing gym that has Olympic boxing alumni as owners and a family heritage of boxing. We offer boxing classes, personal training & more! Today, my goal is to bring boxing back to a state of prominence in Chicago, similar to how it was in the 1920's and 1930's.

My experience as both a professional and amateur boxer allows me the opportunity to share my extensive knowledge with all ages.
Services
My father, Clarence Griffin, bought former bantamweight champion, Johnny Coulon's, boxing gym at 5411 East 63rd Street and renamed it, "Windy City Boxing Gym." At that time, Muhammad Ali was living in Hyde Park and would train at our gym while he was in town. My dad and Ali formed a relationship and we were invited to his home and camp in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania.
Windy City Boxing was recently featured with Mike Berman on Chicago's NBC5 Sports Sunday and talked about the history and the recent re-launch of the gym. When you think of boxing in Chicago, we want you to think of Windy City Boxing, Thank you NBC for giving us the opportunity to share our story. We strive to help youth in Chicago explore new talents, exercise, release negative energy onto the bag and more.

Seems like a decent gym, but quite frankly the customer service was lacking. I was not impressed with how the gym was run.

Windy City offers a great workout 7 days a week. It’s a real boxing gym. It is also beginner friendly. Staff is awesome. Gym is clean. It feels like family here. I highly recommend a visit.

I visited this gym on a Sunday during my stay in Chicago over Memorial weekend. It was pretty cool because not only did it feel like a boxing gym, it felt like I was experiencing history (even though it's not the original gym). Kitty, the lady at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. Montell Griffin was unfortunately not there when I went. Kitty said he had a fighter fight the the night before. But that wasn't a problem because Kitty and another gym member (or trainer) named Rob put together a workout and drills for me and a couple others. Although, this workout was on a Sunday

Every time I walk into Windy City Boxing Club, this place puts a smile on my face. Gosh darn-it! EVERY TIME! Lol!! Everyone is friendly. The lovely lady at the front desk (Ms. Kitty) answers all of my questions and is also available anytime there is a concern. I appreciate that she highly encourages members to reach out to her whether it be for questions, suggestions or just to say hello. The owner Montell "Ice" Griffin is a former Olympian Champion and was recently inducted into the 2019 National Boxing Hall of Fame. How do I know this? Google him! AND GUESS WHAT?!! He is actually at

Windy City Gym was THE place to go in Chicago to learn everything you ever needed to know about boxing from in the ring, to ringside, this place had it all. It was run down, dirty, and in a ghetto type of area. What better a place to learn true skills you'd carry for life. This place was the real deal.

Rest in Peace Windy City
