Kickstart Kids offers high quality martial arts instruction to adolescents navigating the difficult middle school and high school years. At a time when students are developing their identity and faced with significant life choices, the KSK curriculum promotes a sense of community, achievement, healthy lifestyles and the foundation of character - discipline, responsibility, kindness, respect, courage, dedication, honesty, and loyalty.
This year, approximately 8,000 students are enrolled in 60 public schools across the state of Texas. Since its inception, over 110,000 students have benefitted from our one-of-a-kind, life-changing program. Kickstart Kids strives to create an environment and a world that is more respectful, empathetic, equitable and inclusive.

Services
Kickstart Kids is a Texas Education Agency recognized, in-school physical education program that teaches character through karate to middle and high school students. Within every child is the power to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more. Following in the vision of our founder Chuck Norris, we believe that power can be unlocked through the martial arts.
Completing a CAPTCHA proves you are a human and gives you temporary access to the web property. If you are on a personal connection, like at home, you can run an anti-virus scan on your device to make sure it is not infected with malware. If you are at an office or shared network, you can ask the network administartor to run a scan across the network looking for misconfigured or infected devices.
The Kickstart Kids program costs in excess of $100,000 to implement in each school. Schools pay a portion of the cost to bring the program to campus, and Kickstart Kids commits to raising the remainder of the funds. Students are asked to pay a nominal fee, but no student is turned away due to an inability to pay.
Gena and I feel very blessed for the friends and supporters who have helped make the Kickstart Kids program the success it is today. Next to our family Kickstart Kids will always be Gena and my mission in life. We began in 1992 with four middle schools, three in Houston and one in Galveston with 600 students.
Our goal is to work in partnership with educators, parents, law enforcement, and other leaders to help build strong positive communities by teaching character through karate. We use karate and our values curriculum in classes daily to teach the values of honesty, loyalty, courage, discipline, respect, dedication, kindness, and responsibility.

Kickstart kids is an amazing program which allows students to bond with their instructor while learning unique skills of self defense and character traits that will help the students both in the classroom and out. I personally am under the amazing instructor, megan thorp. She is only a 3rd year instructor and has created so many bonds with students while also doing a great job.handling the classes, demoteam, and tornaments. She also has much respect for student privacy and has also gained permission from students, such as myself and other I know, on any subject such as pictures or sharing performance

Great idea. Unfortunately, our Middle School has a horrible instructor, Megan Thorp. She has violated student's privacy by talking to students about other students discipline records and how she personally feels about particular students. Additionally, posting pictures of students on her personal Facebook and not for instructional purpose, in the form of "Selfies" without written permission of the parents. Seems to lack in training/education in dealing with middle school aged children.

Kickstart Kids is an awesome program with a phenomenal staff of instructors that are trained and motivated in helping our youth succeed both in and out of the classroom.
