Services
The Hale Funeral Home, a family-owned business, was founded in 1912 by John Howard Hale. Mr. Hale was born in 1881 in Driver, Va. His great-grandfather, John Bowser, fought as a free man of color against the British in the American Revolutionary War. He served on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Morticians Association, and was a deacon for many years at First Baptist Chruch, Bute Street in Norfolk.
Staff members of Hale Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors. Our staff is available 24 hours a day for the needs of our families.
Hale Funeral Home, located in the heart of the Broad Creek development, is a modern facility designed to accommodate your personal needs during your time of bereavement. It is positioned near the airport for out-of-town transportation, and many hotels for lodging accommodations. Hale's chapel comfortably seats approximately 200 people for seating and has a state-of-the-art audio system to accompany the versatility of the service or viewing.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.

Mr. Wilson and his staff not only offer world class professionalism, but are truly compassionate in ones time of vulnerability and sadness.
