Prism Health is a center of excellence for compassionate, high-quality care for LGBTQ+ individuals and beyond. We believe that gender-affirming care should be comprehensive and integrated into the primary care experience, rather than through a piecemeal approach.
This means that all of our providers are able to provide gender-affirming care, so you can avoid having to see multiple providers to have all your care needs met. Our behavioral and mental health providers offer culturally-affirming therapy designed to bring meaningful and lasting improvement to the lives of all people in our community.

To begin care, please call reception to make an appointment for an intake with one of our therapists. We will gather basic information intended to help us determine how we can best help you and discuss our fee schedule. We accept a number of insurance plans for behavioral and mental health services.
Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, or PrEP, is the method of taking an HIV medication (Truvada) daily to prevent getting infected with HIV. The FDA approved Truvada for use as PrEP in 2012. Studies show that PrEP is up to 99% effective when taken every single day. PrEP is another way to reduce your risk for HIV, along with talking about your status with your partners and consistently using condoms and lube.
We accept the following group health insurance plans. Each Insurance carrier offers various plans. Please note that Prism Health is not able to accept the individual health plans sold through the health insurance marketplace. In order to best assist you, please verify that our providers are covered under your plan by calling member services on the back of your insurance card or by checking your insurance carrier's website.

I initially felt like I might have just gotten the doctor on an off day, but after seeing these other recent reviews I feel compelled to share. I started going to PRISM 3 years ago when Mandy McKimmy was still practicing here. She was hands-down the best HCP I have ever had, and at that time the front desk staff and nurses were very kind and comfortable to be around.
I came back recently for my first in-person appointment after the pandemic, and it was awful. The front desk staff were cold and short. I got back into the room and the nurse also seemed pretty short and not to care about the couple

I’ve been a patient at this clinic for close to three years. Once Covid hit, this chronic went down the hill with a quickness and never recovered.
I showed up for a scheduled Covid test and was asked to advance to wait in my car outside. I arrived 10 minutes early, but it took them 20 minutes past my scheduled appointment time for them to come out and give me my test.
The following week, I had a follow up appointment for an injury, and STI/STD testing, I arrived 12 minutes past my appointment time due to traffic. The front staff greeted me by saying you’re 10 minutes late we can’t see you

I'm editing my review from 5 stars after a few disappointing, time consuming, and questionable appointments. This was never going to be the Ritz Carlton of clinics. It didn't have a doctor or nurses when I started going there almost 3 years ago. But it was convenient despite the mistakes. Plus, I wanted to support the community. If you are in San Francisco, where there a couple LGBT clinics, there is a similar clinic to what this appears to be becoming: A Medicaid clinic that is overly cautious after lawsuits or overdoses, so it begins to become an embarrassing plight on the community. They still

INCREDIBLY inaccessible for patients with executive disfunction. I have now missed three separate appointments because I was slightly late and each time they have failed to reschedule me within two weeks. For a place that is meant to be inclusive to neurodivergent people, it really does not care for its patients with ADHD

Double check your insurance before your appointment because even though they provide primary care, they specialize in that care for certain demographics, and my insurance has to charge me their specialist copay, which is twice what it is for a PCP. And because the clinic did not collect my copay up front, I got surprised by the bill later. The billing department for OCHIN was amazing, they did a lot of research between them and my insurance, and explained things really well once they figured it out. Maybe other insurance plans and companies bill differently.

Everything is controversial these days--even medicine. It shouldn't be. But it is. I spent years working as a firefighter and paramedic...and now I'm a lawyer. What I've learned is that not all "lawyers" or "doctors" are created the same--and that picking either--is a very personal decision for everyone to make.
I picked Prism for a number of reasons. First, it's only a few blocks from home. Second, while I'm not a member of the LGBTQ community, I have nothing but love and support in my heart for the community and the organizations who are stepping

I am a new patient of Dr. Oppenhiem. From my initial contact with front desk to make an appointment, through scheduling and intake, my appointment, and the follow-up, what I experienced was next-level excellence in every way.
Not only was every person informed and courteous, each gave the distinct impression that they were doing everything they could to ensure my visit, my needs, and my health were their number one priority.
My appointment was the day before a holiday weekend, and this was my first appointment with this new healthcare provider, my concerns they would be rushed, unable to take

I love this clinic! All the doctors are extremely kind and there is great communication between all the staff. This is a very inclusive space and I recommended all of my LGBT start here. The main room in calm and quiet and I find it easy to talk with my doctor.
They really care about all inclusive health here. Never before has a Doctor asked me if I wear a helmet while riding my bike!
I can tell everyone here really cares about my health.

I recently established care at Prism Health and couldn't be happier. The staff was friendly and explained everything quite well. (I work in healthcare, so I really focus on a provider's communication) I also love how they consider the entirety of a patient, not just symptoms. I have already recommended Prism Health to a few people and will continue to do so. Great job.

I’m going to miss the staff at Prism. Everyone from start to end are friendly, professional, knowledgeable, & went above and beyond. When i first came to Portland, i was depressed & anxious for many months. They helped me to get back on track & am happy to report that I am doing well & thriving now.
In no particular order since they’re all equally awesome in their own way, a big shout out to the folks i interacted with - Connie, Danielle, Will, Maya, Jake, & Amy! Thank you for your compassionate care. Much <3 Kali C.

When I changed jobs I lost access to KP and was looking for a replacement clinic. I stumbled on Prism as a referral from my old provider. I've been going there just shy of two years and really like the clinic. They are my primary care and speciality care physician. If you are part of the LGTQIA+ community, I highly recommend checking out Prism.

I've been going to Prism Health for almost two years now. I'm fortunate enough to have insurance that covers both Prism and other primary and specialists physicians throughout the area. I mainly go to Prism for my primary care and I have never been disappointed in the care I have received from everyone involved from the front desk to the assistants to the primary care giver, Joshua. Joshua is the kindest, most thorough P.A. I have ever encountered in the same vein as the specialists I see at Legacy and other hospitals. He gives a damn, follows up and always remembers your history

Prism health is welcoming & inviting and Truly helpful for the community. Where else can you get free HIV testing? Here of course! From the front desk to the back office everyone is extremely helpful, kind and respectful. They even have tea, coffee & water while you wait to be seen along with free condoms and lube. There is no judgment here and you feel right at home. The medical and front staff are accommodating and super friendly. They educate you on things you have concerns of such as testosterone injections and vaccines that are recommended. Here at prism you feel everyone's positive

Huge plus for trendy interior design, and the staff is friendly and helpful enough in person. However in working with them over the phone, or over the MyChart app, is a complete nightmare. All the times I've tried to call during normal business hours, no one picks up the phone so I leave a voicemail. They only reply to voicemails at around 4pm while I'm at work so by time I can call them back at 4:15-4:30, it goes to voicemail even though they're supposed to be open until 5, and then the cycle repeats. Even my pharmacists, and offsite lab techs have problems getting in touch with

Pretty disappointed. it's a very nice looking place which i will give them points for. the frustration comes in to the times in which they are never open. they do not communicate with patients who have appointments on days they decide to close as well. i have tried to come and get tested there multiple times but they have a very small number of spots on those days and decide to close whenever it is most convenient for them. prism health? more like prison hell.

Two things first - I got very nice care from them, medically speaking. I work in healthcare as well and the staff was courteous and friendly. I got what I came in for, which was to try and establish Prism as the first primary care I've had in years.
That is the only reason I am giving ANY stars, as my billing experience has been such an ongoing nightmare that I would never, ever recommend someone go there unless they 1) Only have one insurance plan that explicitly contracts with Prism and 2) Have already paid their deductible. Because it's obvious to me that their billing department

The service itself was great and the staff was friendly. They coded my visit incorrectly, then didn't bill me for six months. So when I went to resubmit the claim it was denied because it was too far in the past. I have to now pay hundreds of dollars for their mistake. I would make sure you have your billing ducks in a row if you go here.
