Services
Because oil and gas law is an area of law unique to certain parts of the United States where the industry is concentrated, these issues require familiarity with and specialized knowledge of often complex legal principles. Our firm handles royalty issues from the perspective of the royalty owners. Mineral owners lease their minerals to various operators, retain a right to a royalty or production percentage.
Balzer Law Firm, P.C. can prepare codicils (amendments) to previous Wills or create a new will. Also, Balzer Law Firm, P.C. can help guide whether a Trust is right for you. If it is, we will work towards drafting that Trust to the specifications of your situation with the ultimate goal of listening and respecting each client's wishes to create customized documents to assist in all of the estate planning needs.
As a general rule, a lawyer's "stock in trade" is their time. Time expended can be everything from phone calls, to meetings, to emails, to travel, to research, to preparation, review and strategy analysis. Each lawyer is different but the more common ways of compensating a lawyer for their time are (a) an hourly rate, (b) flat rate based or (c) contingency.
Honestly, sometimes that is very difficult to know. The truth is that there are many things you can do on your own as good or better than an attorney and without spending a lot of money. There are also some matters that are of relatively low value that it is simply uneconomic to hire a lawyer and you are better off pursuing matters on your own through small claims court or some other similar venue.
When received, we promise to review your material and promptly respond. However, please know that any information you send in an email message might not be confidential or privileged. Nor does sending us an inquiry make you a client of Balzer Law Firm, P.C. You will only be a client upon mutual agreement.

I am not a novice when it comes to working with attorneys and feel very confident to highly recommend Cody Balzer and the Balzer Law Firm. I found him to be knowledgeable, to the point, a good listener, and quite reasonable. His assistant, Amy is also terrific! I intend to use his services in the future.

I recently received legal services from Cody Balzer in a sale of mineral rights in Weld County, CO. He brokered the sale for me and got me a price I couldn't even have imagined! He knows the people in the industry and put that knowledge to work to get his client a great price. In addition, he had someone get me a tax basis valuation. All of this was done in a timely manner, with little effort on my part. His fees were very close to his original estimate. Throughout this process Cody was personable, patient, professional, and persistent in wrapping up this deal for me. I would highly recommend Cody

My wife and I first contacted Cody Balzar concerning forced pooling by an oil company with our 10 acre home outside Loveland. Cody was very informative in explaining our rights and paths forward with how to deal with the oil company. Cody represented us well in all the negotiations with the oil company concerning our mineral rights.
