This is a learning environment that builds confidence and strength. You will learn the basics in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which include self-defense, ground-work, body control, take-downs and throws.
Our kids' program is designed to instill confidence and teach practical self-defense skills. Your child will increase in focus, discipline, and coordination while having fun. Classes are taught in a simple, structured manner so that EVERYONE can participate, learn, and enjoy the results! Children can start as early as 3 years old!
On your first day, you will have an opportunity to receive individualized attention and cover the primary principles of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and what to expect during classes. After your session, our staff will answer any further questions and go over the membership programs that we offer! If you're concerned about being in shape before starting Jiu-Jitsu, don't worry, we will get you in shape for the class!
For those of you that a brand new to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, here are a few key terms that you will hear during classes. Don't worry about knowing them, you will gradually learn them as you attend. We made a quick guideline for your reference. We do not recommend going further into looking up what every term in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu means!

So far i really like the gym. Everyone is so helpful and nice. Everyone tries to help you out no matter what. It's my 5th or 6th class and it's been a great workout every time. It's intimidating at first cause you're the rookie but don't be intimidated by it. I feel more confident and I feel healthier. The only regret I have it not signing up sooner. Sign up and def try it out for yourself.

I’ve trained here for nearly 6 years and my only regret is not having started earlier. As intimidating as walking into a martial arts school as a new student can be, Uflacker Academy has always fostered a positive and welcoming environment for all students regardless of skill level. The “U” is the perfect training academy for both competitive and recreational students.

Amazing instructors. The children LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I like that they can go every day if they like for one low price. I highly recommend Uflacker Academy for children. Gives them a great workout helps to build confidence and form friendships with kids who have a common interest. I especially like the safety aspect for children. The children wait inside until the instructor sees the parent, only then does she allow the child leave.

I've been training here for several years now, and there are several things make this place stand out. The level of instruction is absolutely world class. Professor Uflacker grew up on the mats training with the legends of BJJ, so he brings invaluable experience. In addition, the mats are always clean, because they are cleaned as a group after every class. Everyone on the mats are great people. We come from different walks of life and we all bond on mat. It's really a great place to come and learn how to choke out your best friends. 😁🤙🏼

This is by far the best martial arts school anywhere around! I have been a student for over 5 years and Proffesor Christians teaching ability and lineage are unmatched! They have an amazing group of students, coaches, staff not to mention the cleanest gym I have ever been too. Regardless if you have goals of competing or just getting in shape look no further then Uflacker Academy!

My husband has been going to Uflacker for a few years now and our children have both started within the last 6 months. I, working in healthcare, have been very cautious re: activities and associated cleanliness/safety. Uflacker has done a wonderful job of making sure the kids (and adults) have been safe through this pandemic. I love the class sign-up method online, which is new since COVID and ensures classes are at an appropriate capacity.

This is one of the best places I have ever taken my kids. Son and daughter. We have been enrolled for over 2 years. The professors and coaching are excellent!!! The vibe of this place is very positive. Professors Christian and Sladjana are great at what they do. The team of coaches implement training and sparring in a very interactive, engaged fashion. Uflacker's mats are such a dynamic place for the study of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. My family would watch from the spectator/parent area and saw our son and daughter evolve and develop skills AND confidence in a positive, welcoming environment.

I would just like to say that if you're looking for a good place to learn this art that is a family oriented environment with really good people then look no further make this place your home. They definitely teach you proper technique here I came for the free class and signed up before I left on the 1st day best jujitsu Academy ever!!

If you want to get in shape and be physically fit(and mentally prepared for defending yourself for a possible dangerous encounter)there is NOT a better sport than jiu-jitsu to learn-Uflacker Academy is world class run by a husband and wife team with more than enough knowledge to prepare you to be the best that you can be!! The academy is super clean and the instructors are world class professionals.Look on there website and see why everyone trains here(even MMA pro's)Do not be intimidated if you're new,they have all level students training and lots of women too so try there free class

Uflacker Academy is the best school in the Chicago area for training kids in an uplifting environment. The kids and my husband have been going to the school now for over five years and make the drive from the north side of the city each week, it's worth it!
We did tons of research prior to joining the school on the background of the professors to make sure we are learning from the best. The lineage is direct from Carlos Gracie Jr. which ensures it is not filtered approach.
It is an excellent family friendly environment!

Professor Christian Uflacker is by far one of the most impressionable coaches I've ever personally known. He is one of the few practitioners around who is both wise and knowledgable beyond their years.
I think what separates Uflacker Academy from the rest of the pack is their overall family, learning atmosphere. I wish that I had progressed through Professor Uflacker's system, but I relocated from the area. Otherwise, I would have stayed a member of the team.
They're keen to drawing in military, law enforcement, and first responders; but they also have a great mix of teachers,

Uflacker Academy is a great martial arts school in Chicago. The amount of technique and dedication is remarkable. It's a great environment for beginners and advanced students. Professor Christian teaches authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and puts great emphasis on technique. This is a good place to make friends, develop character, and learn self-defense. I can't recommend it enough!

I have been attending the Ulfacker Academy for almost a year and I can't say enough great things about this place. Professor Christian and his staff is very respectful to the students and you get the feeling that he loves teaching. He's really created this environment at his school where everyone helps one another and you're never shunned for asking questions. Its an Academy atmosphere not a Fight Club which makes it easier for everyday people to transition into martial arts.

This school has horrible owners, the owner never showed to any of my sons competitions to show his support, his wife has horrible people skills, she's rude and she's the one you deal with for the tuition, she's always blaming the bank for mistakes that occurred at many different times with the tuition, when we lost a family member & let her know my son wouldn't be able to attend she not once was sympathetic, as much as i tried to avoid her, i still had to deal with her b/c she continued on charging my acct even after the fact i had signed and canceled the classes, worst
