It all starts at The Root. We're in the business of making you feel fantastic. Over the past 15 years, The Root Salon has established itself as the best resource for hair beauty in the Phoenix metropolitan area. We uphold a daily, uncompromising commitment to quality and customer service in our luxurious North Central Phoenix location.
All haircuts are scheduled in 45-minute to one hour blocks of time. Please note that some hair types require additional time, such as thicker, longer or more textured. In these instances the haircut must be scheduled for additional time and will be reflected in the haircut price. We add a $20 charge for long hair services.

I had a fantastic experience here. I'm a snowbird and my hairdresser of forty years is in Chicago, so I needed a salon and stylist I felt comfortable with while here in AZ. I'm happy to have found this with The Root Salon and my new hairstylist, Shane! The salon's staff are true professionals, making me feel welcome and comfortable as I walked in for the first time. It's a very clean, quaint and urban inspired environment. During my visit Shane gained my trust by explaining his color, cut and style techniques and asked me questions to gage my comfort level before proceeding

Kira spent a lot of time on my hair and did a fabulous job on my color and cut. I have tried many stylists in the past and it is extremely rare that they are able to achieve the color I am looking for. It usually turns out brassy and doesn't look natural. Because of this I am always leery of trying out someone new. I was pleasantly surprised and am very, very happy that I have finally found someone that knows what she is doing. I would strongly recommend Kira. She works wonders.

Time flies when you're happy with your salon... and wow - it has now been over a decade since I started going to The Root Salon!
Seeing that it has been almost four years since my last review and ten years since my initial review, and recognizing the fact that we've been dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic for the last two years, I feel like I'm overdue for an updated review!
I continue to be super pleased with the five star service that I've received at this salon. I see Dana consistently every 8 weeks or so and he has become a mind-reader at what I want/need each visit.

Customer service was great. They attended us quickly and offered us beverages. The salon is clean and has a modern interior design. Scheduling was easy and they call you a day before to confirm your appt. My stylist Dayna (probably incorrect spelling) was great. He did a deep conditioning treatment in my hair for my super dry curls. He was very friendly and offered me tips on how to keep my curls looking healthy. After he was done, my curls looked moisturized and thick. My mother's hair stylist, who's name I don't remember, did an okay job. My mother asked for her hair to be straightened, but the

EDIT: I spoke with the owner. Attempting to resolve the situation in a better manner (went south within 1 second). Started the conversation with the owner saying "You really wanna start this fight" I said "wow a little unprofessional but now that you ask, yep I am more than happy to start this "fight". She commented saying my claim about rarely writing bad reviews is false. I had two other reviews which yes I guess were bad... from YEARS ago. I am typically not one to do bad reviews, and try my best to leave good ones instead. However this salon and their very rude and arrogant management has led me to do so. I went in on Saturday requesting an auburn balayage (have provided the inspo pic below). Instead, I was given a very blonde, patchy balayage. I went home wanting to settle and not have to go back. However, after texting my stylist (who I will not name) and told her I am looking to add more auburn as it looks blonde. She had me come in the next day and only had the idea that she was going to TONE me... not add the auburn color.

After a rough work week, I made a last minute appointment on Friday, November 5 for a haircut to refresh my look. I showed up a few minutes early and was offered an array of beverages which is a nice touch.
My wait for the stylist wasn’t very long at all. Valence was my hairstylist and wore these fabulous orange glasses. He was very nice and funny but also attentive and focused at the same time. It was a really nice way to end my stressful work week. I am super happy with my haircut and would recommend Valence specifically.

Showed up five minutes early to my 3:45 appointment as a potential new client and was ignored for twenty minutes before finally leaving. No acknowledgment whatsoever from any staff members. I would have happily waited if my stylist or any staff members had let me know that they weren’t ready for me. They are obviously doing fine and do not need new business. I’ll be booking an appointment elsewhere. Very disappointing.

Not the place to go for curly/textured hair. I saw a couple comments mentioning this but after looking at all the great reviews I gave it a shot anyway. I asked on the phone for someone who has the most experience with cutting and coloring curly hair and I was given Jules. He did a great job coloring my hair, but when it came to cutting it he treated it as if it was straight hair and didn’t take into account that it would dry very differently, despite me asking about this. He assured me it would look great. Sent me home with wet hair and of course when it dried it formed the dreaded poofy “triangle”

Will not go here again. Paid $100 to have a stylist by the name of Dana, create a style for me. The $100 dollars was suppose to be for 1 hour of his time. Anything over that was to be extra. Well, he only spent 45 minutes with me and gave me a hairstyle that actually looked like he put a bowl on my head and used it as a quite for cutting.

I went in for a cut on curly hair. Made sure to specify when making appt that I wanted someone who cut curly hair and gave my curly type. The experience was fine, the price was high but for a good cut, it’s worth it. I got home and noticed the left side was noticeably longer than the right. I went in for a correction and the stylist was quibbling about how much needed to be fixed and was pulling out the short side and not the long, seemingly an attempt to show it wasn’t uneven. I just looked at the back, and that is just as uneven as the front and side.

I kind of stumbled upon The Root salon as I wanted a short-notice cut and color. There just so happened to be a cancellation that I could fit into (it felt like it was meant to be!!). I am SO GRATEFUL!!
The whole experience was lovely starting from the complimentary beverages as soon as I walked in the door. Hope blew my mind!! She was amazing and my color is seriously otherworldly. I am not the most savvy in the beauty world and Hope was awesome at educating me and offering advice and perspective when I asked for it. I had a wonderful experience and The Root is my new salon, and Hope my new stylist

Love how my hair turned out! The salon itself is so homey and clean. It's been years since I've had any color added, so I was kind of nervous! I had my first appointment today at The Root Salon, upon recommendation from a colleague. I was completely impressed with everything from the ease of scheduling, the cleanliness, and the professionalism of all I encountered. My hair expert was Meggan and she was a--mazing!!!
She took the time to listen to me with patience and knowledge - loved the results! I will definitely be back to see her side note : she is so gentle and seriously cares about your hair. Not a turn and burn Salon- expect the best because you will get it here.

The hospitality and customer service here is pretty amazing. My boyfriend and I are from Cali and helped our friend move to Arizona. We were only going to be there for a weekend, but I decided to take advantage of the fact that that AZ had salons open during the pandemic. Back in my city, hair salons have not reopened yet.
Mallorie was super nice, and gave me some really awesome tips about how to maintain my hair. AND she surprised me with a sweet note a few days after I got back to Cali! It was such a pleasant surprise, and made me feel like I was a special customer.

During my last visit I arrived to discover, after sitting in the waiting area for 15 minutes, that my stylist is sick and won’t be able to do my hair. I was lucky enough to have someone jump in and say the could fit me in.
At the end though, I paid over $200 for a mediocre coloring job and the worst haircut I’ve ever received. I have a blunt cut in the front that’s 2-3 inches shorter than it should be. I also think it’s silly they charge something like $40 to blow dry your hair.
I’m done with root salon.

LOVE The Root Salon and Lauren!! She's been taking care of my locks for 10+ years and I have a LOT of hair. It's healthier, shinier and prettier than ever and I credit it to the care she gives it. The salon is beautiful, always clean, staff is friendly, polite and on time. The Root Salon keeps up with trends as well as helping clients have healthy hair.
