Dr. Daniel Patrick (Pat) O'Neil was born and raised in Terrell, Texas, the son of two lifetime educators. Dr. O'Neil attended Texas A&M University, where he ran track for the university. After completing three years of undergraduate work at A&M, he was accepted into the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program and completed his Bachelor's of Science in Biomedical Science while simultaneously working toward his veterinary degree.
Pedernales Veterinary Center is a full-service veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care for your pets. We understand the special role your pet plays in your family and are dedicated to becoming a trusted partner in your pet's health care. If you have any questions or would like more information on the services listed, please contact us today.
Just as annual physical exams are recommended for humans, they are recommended for our pets as well. If a health problem can be detected in its earliest stages, there is a far greater likelihood that it can be resolved and treated with less difficulty, less expense, and greater success.

Early recognition of diseases is achieved by having a skilled veterinarian evaluate your pet on a regular basis, saving you and your pet from needless suffering and a larger financial burden. If your pet is older or has medical problems, they may need even more frequent examinations. Annual visits to the veterinarian are so much more than just vaccines!
Advances in modern anesthesia have made veterinary surgery safer than it has ever been. The doctors and staff at Pedernales Veterinary Center carefully evaluate each patient to determine the best anesthetic protocol for that animal's individual needs. To ensure that your pet can adequately handle anesthesia, we offer full in-house laboratory testing prior to each procedure.

I had just moved from Tennessee and needed a vet for my cat on a Sunday . They saw her without hesitation. Knowledgeable, kind and very caring folks. My other cat got sick on a Saturday and they saw him and took great care of him. Even though they are an hour from where I live in Harper, we’ll worth the drive for the care and compassion. Years ago on Thanksgiving Day, Patrick came to Doss to help with a distressed mare. We were up all night in the cold and wind with her and Patrick saved her. Thank your Patrick.

We (and our pets) LOVE the staff! We’ve been taking our pets here for 4 years and have never had any issues, prices are fair and the staff are awesome. One of the best things is we see the same staff all the time year after year which, to me, says a lot about the business, the doctors and their staff. ❤️

A bit of a wait, but what very clinic isn't? The staff were nice and treated my pet as a family member not livestock. Highly recommend and will go back again.

My dog broke her foot while we were here visiting my daughter. Dr. O’Neil and the entire staff was so caring and kind. Their facility is very nice and very clean. If I lived here, he would definitely be our full time vet! Highly recommended.

Our 10 year old dachshund had a lymphoma removed from his chest. Dropped him off at 8:30 am & picked him up at 3:30. Everything seems to be good so far. Nice folks. This is our regular vet.

We hadn't found a vet yet for our new lab puppy. Our pup had an incident and needed to be seen immediately and it was after hours. We called Dr O’Neil and explained the situation and he met us at the clinic at 11: 45 PM! He treated our puppy and was very caring. The price was very reasonable and we really appreciated that he took our call and came to meet us when it was so late. We really liked him and so did Harley. So it is a no brainer that we will be taking our pup Harley to Pedernales Veterinary Clinic for all his shots and care! Thank so much!

Saved my vacation and eased a stressed dog-mom’s mind! I completely forgot my dogs medication at home and it was the beginning of a long Holiday weekend. The front desk staff was so sweet and told me to come on by and they would take care of us, Dr Pat was kind and caring and was able to help save the day! If we ever move to Fredericksburg, we know where we’ll be taking our sweet girl!

Visiting from Dallas and my dog tore her ACL. It was the day after Christmas so our options were limited. They accommodated a quick turnaround and we got her in to see the vet. She has pain medicine to get us back to Dallas. Very thankful for them and their care of our fur baby.
