Sometimes the insurance company will contact you to ask if you are interested in a cash settlement of your future medical award. No one can force you to settle your future medical award if you don't want to. On the other hand, you can't force the insurance company to settle. Temporary disability benefits end after 104 weeks (two years) (with few exceptions). Kathleen "Katie" Seimomt is by far one of the best attorneys I have ever worked with. She not only gets the job done but does it in a professional yet personable way. Katie took over my case from a previous attorney and since that time the case was expedited and we are almost finished after 10 years of fighting the insurance company. Poor communication and hardly saw my attorney in over 3 years, about 5 times in total. Tried to get me to settle for thousands less than I eventually did receive only because I refused to settle when he previously thought I should. I felt he was not totally aware of the information within my case file, as questions were asked and their seemed to be conflicts. I didn't trust him to do a good job for me and felt stuck. Seemed to need to advocate for myself throughout my case. I settled when I felt I wanted to although feeling that if better represented I could have gotten a larger settlement
