In the early 1900s, Conrad Skalman and Lars Olson began the Underwood Furniture Company. Unfortunately, Skalman passed away after WWI, so Lars took over management and ownership of the store (and changed the name to its current one). In the evenings, Guy, Lars's son, helped out in the store doing odd jobs and building picture frames.
