A couple years before Wild Orchid Salon came to be, Danielle and Jared actually met in an upscale Austin hair salon. After completing cosmetology school and receiving her license in 2007, Danielle started her career in hair at Jose Luis Salon. Jared worked as a Vice President with Grande Communications which had offices in the same building.

I had been to Wild Orchid several years ago, and was very pleased with the result! I went elsewhere at the recommendation of others, and after returning there recently, am very, very seriously questioning why I left! I recently returned for handed my issues over to Karlee, who has been a godsend!! At other salons, I have been through weft extension and removal twice, as well as a supposed "color correction" to the tune of over $700, and multiple appointments for full highlights that lasted 5+ hours, and cost upwards of $300+ each time. Danielle did an amazing job with my hair! She had really good input when it came to how to cut and style it when I asked for her opinion and it came out great. She owns the salon and has clearly built an awesome business. On a personal note, it has been a stressful time evacuating from a storm in my city, and coming to Austin and having such a good experience at Wild Orchid made my day. First time I’ve gotten a Brazilian blowout done by Lacy. And, I loved it!! It looks sooo good and feels sooo soft. Lacy’s attentive, honest, professional, and sweet!! I would highly recommend her!! Thank you Lacy!!

I booked an appt here without requesting a stylist as I was in desperate need of a Brazilian blowout. I was pleasantly surprised by this place! I usually don't do reviews but my stylist Zee was THE BOMB. She was so fun and professional. Did an incredible job on my hair and she was fast! Which days a lot bc this treatment usually takes stylists up to 3 hours and we were done in well under 2. Great start to the weekend. I will be back and highly recommend seeing Zee!

Let me tell you how incredible Zee is. I'm not even kidding. I went through 3 months of hell battling two other salons where the stylists royally screwed up my hair (didn't listen to what I wanted, weren't up front about what they could/could not do to my hair, highlighted it up top when I asked it to be an ombré look, put permanent color on top when it should have been semi, and the list goes on). And those were pricey salons that are well known!! I found Wild Orchid by chance, and the guy at the front recommended Zee for me. I wanted someone certified to perform Brazilian blowouts

I absolutely love this Salon. The staff are super friendly and it's in a cool spot downtown where you can get a juice or food after you get your hair done. I highly recommend Johnny! He does exactly what you want but goes above and beyond to make sure your hair is styled and colored perfectly for your face. He also gives you tips on how to keep color lasting, how to keep hair looking healthy, and is great company in the process.

I Live in the Bee cave area & was looking for a salon that had reasonable prices. I called the salon for the first time & spoke with someone about my hair. They told me they were booked & would call me back if they had an opening. I NEVER received a called back from the salon. A week later, I decided to call back on my own time. And ask to make an appointment once again!! I spoke with a man named “Cameron”?? Told me he would speak with a hairdresser. Then call me back within the hour, if a spot was able. Or if someone could do highlights in hair the following day!!

This place is cute inside, and everyone is very friendly. My hairdresser was Cat, and I had a Long Hair haircut. I loved my hair at the end. It turned out great, though Cat curled it at the end of the appointment. I didn't realize she was going to, and I didn't really need it. I was only walking back to work after. It was cute, but it just felt unnecessary. Cat felt a little shaky on my hair, but maybe that was because I was a new customer or something. I came in at 11:45 during a workday, and it was fairly empty and quiet. Overall, a good experience.

The salon is set on a nice little street with other shops and I love how they decorated it! The front is completely open, set with plants, flowers and chairs as if you're relaxing on your patio. They offer you beverages upon arrival which was super sweet. The hair wash area was set-up comfortably as well with a nice chair with support and a foot stool (which not even some of the expensive salons have!).

I had a rough travel delay (delays and traffic) on my way into Austin for work. I really wanted to get my haircut and was hoping to find something downtown near my hotel and Wild Orchid was flexible and friendly when I called to help me make it work. They got me in super last minute and I was even a few minutes late and they were super understanding.
When I arrived, they gave me a much needed glass of wine and I even got some pretzels (I was starved so this was perfect).

The last two times I've left the salon I've needed a correction (once from a cut and once from a color). I wish the stylists would have confirmed more specifically what I wanted before they began. Two different stylists made assumptions that were not correct and communication would've solved both issues. The front desk staff is very kind, but I won't be coming back.

It's completely surprising to me how this salon is still in business. I've waited an entire year for this review because that's how long it took to repair my hair after the botched job I had done here. I came in for an ombré and came out with something entirely different. Over $300 spent on a stylist completely bleaching my hair to the point of no return. I came back to have a fix and asked for a refund because it was still so far from what I wanted (last photo in the set) and was told no.

Wow! I was honestly a bit nervous before the appointment because I have never colored my hair before, but Karlee was absolutely fabulous! I showed her what I was looking for, and she talked through everything with me and gave me suggestions on what to do/where to start the color to keep it looking natural. She was super sweet and was super thorough with my hair. All of the staff were super polite and professional.
