Sam's background in gymnastics, classical ballet and competitive cycling, as well as 20 years as a trainer have given her a solid background in body mechanics. Her focus on core strength for the last 15 years has helped many people move from one level to the next in their respective sports, and has helped reduce back and neck pain for people with a history of back issues.
For several years I have been seeing Elisa May for massage therapy. She is trained both as a massage therapist as well as a physical therapy assistant, and is very active in several sports disciplines. Her massages are not only thoroughly relaxing, but one can tell. Elisa, my thoughts on the bio psychosocial approach to mind and body has led me to you and has helped both myself and my patients tremendously over last 10 years.
This field of massage is very interesting to us, and we really enjoy the challenge of solving a puzzle. Sports massage traditionally implies working with athletes or active people, and that means knowing how to keep people moving and doing what they love. It could be as simple as pre-event warm up or a post-event flush, or as complicated as deep tissue work and strategic stretching.
Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Sam studied Public Relations and Communication Science, and went on to a 10 year career in Risk Management and Catastrophic Insurance. After daily visits to the gym, and enthusiastic participation in fitness classes, she decided to become a fitness instructor, and then a certified personal trainer in 1998, studying through the South African Institute of Fitness Professionals.

This is THE place to have a massage! I've been going regularly to see Katherine Whitwell for the past 5 months and she is amazing! The entire team here is outstanding, they are all athletes and are very involved in the local community. If you are looking for an incredible massage therapist or want to try out a new place, I can't recommend them enough--10 stars!

Sam's ministrations have speeded my healing after several odd accidents. She always suggests an alternate way to stretch or manipulate if an action hurts. Feeling better+ learning something = a great experience for me.
