Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art focusing largely on grappling and ground fighting. It focuses on the principles of leverage and proper technique to obtain dominant control on the ground, and provides a greater position to resolve conflict by using submission holds.
BJJ has been proven, when used properly, to be an effective method for dealing with bigger and stronger opponents and has become increasingly popular due in part to its great success in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).A student can train in BJJ for self defense, sport jiu-jitsu (and submission grappling) and mixed martial arts competition.

A good instructor's main goal is not to build champions of tournaments, but to build champions of life. Every class and activity is highly related to day to day realities- jiu jitsu helps to prepare kids for their futures with the mental and physical strength and agility in the future in a safe, fun environment.
Uniform Policy - White or Blue Gi only with no other affiliation patches + Rash Guard underneath. T-shirts are not permissible. Before stepping foot on the mat, make sure to have your entire Gi on as well as a properly tightened belt. Be on time to class. If you happen to arrive late, wait at the entrance to the mat till the instructor says it's okay for you to join.

Always a great time watching my son learn new skills at eagle rock Jiu-Jitsu academy. My son has been attending ERJJA for approximately a year and a half now and he loves it. Professor Rafael, professor James and coach Elijah are great instructors. They are patient, highly trained and skilled in jiu jitsu, and it shows consistently every session. I’ve known Professor Raphael for almost 13 years and can personally testify that his jiu jitsu game is incredibly elite. More importantly, he’s an amazing teacher who cares for his students and knows how to properly convey the important details of any techniques or concept. I highly recommend that anyone in LA looking to get started or improve their jiu jitsu should start training with Professor Raphael. Anytime I’m back home in California, I’ll be back at Eagle Rock Jiu-Jitsu to train!

This hidden gem is centrally located. I had the pleasure of seeing Raphael instructing members during a group session. Raphael is extremely focused on sharing his expertise to his students. We are hooked on this place!!! The rates for private and group lessons are very reasonable. This is worth looking into. Studio has a great vibe.
