Al, apparently the person who picked up the phone was keen on hanging up tho phone saying everything will be explained when I come in and I can schedule an appointment later. I repeatedly kept asking what I need to bring to sign up and received the same comment - all that will be covered when you come in. I explained that if I come in empty handed I will have to make another trip. That was it, he lost his patience. His response was that this is a private gym and not to bother coming here and hung up. I can’t believe the demeanor of this person. May be the rest of the staff is friendly but they

Not a bad gym to start at, especially during the pandemic when everything was closed. My boyfriend had found this place and told me to give it a try because it has everything we wanted (HIIT, Muay Thai (well actually it was kickboxing but we did throw some knees in the mix), boxing, and BJJ). There are also weights and whatnot if you want to lift on your own.
Pros: Large space, amateur and professional fighters teach the boxing and kickboxing classes. Never got to try BJJ but my boyfriend told me he'd rather go to a gym that focused on BJJ, which I'd have to agree with. I've learned

This gym is an amazing place to get started or train in literally all things that they offer.
Their jiu jitsu program is legit, and is extremely beginner friendly. I knew that when I first started, I was really nervous and self conscious, but all the worry was for nothing! Al is a super knowledgeable instructor and ensures that you learn at a pace where you feel most comfortable. He pushes you and really drills down on the fundamental, while showing us advanced techniques made easy. On top of that, all the people I met are nice and are quick to help out whenever.

Place is a hidden gem - the front door is right off the street in the middle of downtown LA, you will take some stairs down to a large, fully equipped mma/crossfit gym with a ring and rolling area. Everyone in there is friendly and helpful - I've been boxing/kickboxing for about about 9 years and have been a member at a ton of gyms all over. This is a really good one, the classes can accommodate beginner to advanced, and the coaches will push you the right way. Even if you don't do a martial art the work out classes are excellent.

LOVE THIS GYM! I've never felt comfortable at gyms before, but this place is like joining a family. People are all really cool, respectful, and absolutely no judgment. Everyone supports each other and every single instructor is as good as it gets.
Gym is clean, restrooms are clean. There are showers and lockers, hairdryers too!
Literally everything you need in a facility. They have CrossFit, Boxing, Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing, Etc. My favorite it jiu jitsu, and the sensei (and owner of the gym) has a passion for jiu jitsu that really shows in his expertise and knowledge. He and all the other

More than a gym. A place to learn and reach your full potential. Instructors are the best and really care about you and go out of their way to make sure your posture and technique is correct. Everyone treats each other like family. It's difficult to go to any gym and discipline yourself but Rise Athletics makes me want to be a better person and put it the hard work everyday. Worth every penny! Highly recommend. You don't have to believe me you only have to take a chance. It'll be worth it!

There is nothing wrong with the facility or the instructors, the reason I'm posting three stars is because there is no parking. If I'm paying nearly 200$ a month, I expect a place to park. Maybe it's because I'm not a native Angelino, but I'm not comfortable paying five dollars a visit for parking that is limited to an hour and a half. That means you're limited to an hour workout assuming walking time and getting dressed takes half an hour. I chose to go somewhere else because I wasn't comfortable limiting the length of my workouts and paying for parking,

While the marketing may seem like it is mainly a cross fit gym, it really isn't. This is a legitimate MMA gym that works really well to train students in MMA.
I mainly trained in Jiu-Jitsu with sensei Al. The coach and students were all extremely friendly and welcoming. If you are thinking about learning MMA, this is the place to do it.
Great for amateur MMA training.

Well we all know there is a gym on every corner, some dirt cheap with quality leaving much to be desired, to glittery with narcissism. If you want a relaxed setting, with a grueling pace, more than fair pricing for detailed personalized training (even in a group workout) this is the place to be. The management does not answer to investors, neither caters to the masses. This place is about supporting its trainees and providing a safe, uplifting, challenging experience, while honing you to hold yourself to a higher standard and making your fitness and achieving goals a lifestyle.

My experience at Rise Athletics Crossfit Gym Los Angeles has been great! From the appearance, the setup, the energy, to the welcoming greeting from the owner. This was my first boxing experience and they put me at ease. They were very patient and helpful and answered my many questions. The workout was amazing! I’m a very happy and will be coming back for sure.

Anything I say won’t do this place justice. From the start they were fast to respond to my questions. They offer a free class so you can check it out and see if you like it. My son loved it and we ended up signing him up. While we were turned away from other gyms because of his age, this place welcomed him with open arms. My son has gone from being upset due to bullying to being confident. He always leaves jujitsu class with a big smile even when he’s tired. Everyone is friendly from the staff to the members. My first day I was told that they are building a family and egos are not welcomed

Rise Athletics LA is the only DTLA gym that has all sort of classes under 1 roof. They have best in class trainers for boxing and CrossFit. I was always afraid of CrossFit but my trainer Christiani made me feel so comfortable and encouraged me to try it all out at my own speed while also pushing me to challenge myself to get stronger. My only suggestion for improvement is to turn the AC on always. It does get really hot since its in the basement. Besides that I don't have any complaints about the gym.

Rise Athletics LA pretty much old school gym nothing fancy put in the hard work, sweat and bruises to reach success. First off please be mindful parking can be tough DTLA but next door there's a parking lot that validates for guests going to gym be sure to check in with Rise staff to get parking validation and then go pay I took a star off simple because this wasn't explained in the beginning you need to leave you ID with rise in order to obtain validation so had to pay full parking fees.
The gym restroom has lockers but bring your own lock, showers and few amenities but I personally

This gym will continually charge you membership fee even if you're already canceled the membership for half year, every time I try to contact their staff and always response " we will refund you " but what if I didn't not discover this transaction from my credit card statement ? They keep steal my money after I've indicated that I wanna Cancel the membership and successfully cancelled half year ago!

I HATE going to the gym because I find myself loosing motivation about 15 minutes in. I decided to give this place a try after finding a Groupon for unlimited Boxing and MMA for a month. I've never done either, and have now done 6 45min classes in two weeks. That's twice as much as I use to go to the gym. Tony is an amazing instructor who gives excellent real time feed back to help your form and keep you moving. The warm up exercises are great. The boxing workout mixed with rotating circuit training is engaging and challenging, and the final burn exercises kick your butt before you call

This gym is one of the biggest hidden gems in DTLA. Rise Athletics is a new MMA gym but they also house a Boxing (Espada Boxing) and Crossfit gym (Crossfit 213). Your membership will get you MMA and boxing classes but you can also just come here for Crossfit or even do both!
One of the reasons this gym blew me away was by the sheer size of this place. Having gone to several MMA gyms before moving out here, space is hard to come by in LA. But even when in DTLA, they have the space for a full sized boxing ring, caged mma ring, 16 punching bags, mat space for grappling, weights and barbell area
