Functional Fitness takes the safety of our team and our clients very seriously. Masks are worn at all times. We have added a UV sanitizer to the ducts of the HVAC system so the air is sanitized of bacteria, viruses and mold as it travels through the heating and ventilation system. All surfaces that a client comes in contact with is sanitized after each use and all surfaces are cleaned many times throughout the day.

Gaining new confidence in your own healthy biomechanics is one of the things you get from working with Sam. His analysis is unique. Sam puts three decades of thought into your training. He has over 60,000 hours of personal training experience.

Sam has held eighteen national certifications in personal training and nutrition and maintains only the best, including the National Academy of Sports Medicine, ACPT (Advanced Certified Personal Trainer) and National Fitness Therapy Association, Accredited Fitness Therapist.He has been CPR and First Aid Certified for more than 15 years.
Functional Fitness was never about repeating poor movement patterns we find in real life. It was never about carrying sandbags, flipping tires, banging balls into walls or performing unhelpful, damaging movements over and over again.

FUNCTIONAL FITNESS is about improving human function through normalizing range of motion, aligning the bodies joints, balancing muscular strength, improving balance and coordination, and improving agility through knowledge, awareness and EXERCISE.When you add Sam's patented Fitness Longevity concepts you get a special secret sauce of improved gait and posture while improving performance in all tasks we perform on a daily basis.
We use an analysis based approach for our personal training services. We look at each individual's subtle differences in movement and function to determine what movement or exercise patterns would give you the greatest improvement in function over a lifetime. Many times we can help solve the problems that are the cause of aches, pain and suffering due to life's wear and tear, trauma and injuries.
I've been going to Sam's Functional Fitness for 4 years and have had a wonderful experience. Sam really knows what he is doing and makes an assessment of your body mechanics, strengths and weaknesses, before putting together a program that is right for you. He will change that program as your body's needs change whether it is due to injury, illness or needing to improve in a particular sport.

I have worked with Colleen Glenn-Wilson for a couple of years now at Functional Fitness and she is an amazing trainer. She's very knowledgeable, a great listener, and knows when to go easy on me and when to push me to give it my all. Colleen is very dedicated to her work, which seems be both a science and an art for her. Highly recommended!

My physical therapist,Sandy Bertrand,PT,is an "angel" who has helped my back,shoulder to improve.Without her fantastic PT,I would feel old,crippled with pain.Sandy loves being a PT.I give her 5/5 stars. not only for today,but for every PT session!!!She's the reason I am still walking without assistance!

I've worked with trainer Lisa Citeralla. She is so amazing. Her knowledge of body mechanics is so impressive. I worked with her to make sure I had
proper form for the class Body Pump. Body Pump moves quickly from one exercise to another, and I wanted help with my form and the fast transitions. Lisa corrected my form and also gave me options to alter the exercises to accommodate me and how my muscles function. Additionally, Lisa has a massage therapy license. Again, because she understands body mechanics so well, she can massage your body with very specific end goals in mind. Definitely give Lisa

Sam runs an amazing gym. If you are new to resistance training, recovering from an injury, or just looking for a small private gym to get your workout in, this is the place for you. The personal trainers are knowledgeable and experienced. They have in house massage and physical therapists. If you are tired of big box gyms and are ready to upgrade your workout this is the place for you. It is always spotlessly clean, the staff is friendly and attentive, and if you need personal training or physical therapy they have you covered.

I have experienced Lisa's work and her detailed eye. She had me walk on the treadmill and across the room and video taped my gait and saw several things that I was unaware of that were producing imbalances in my spine and joint structure. As a chiropractor of 33 years I was highly impressed with her knowledge and skill in analysis and treatment of the human frame.

I just had my first personal training session ever, and it was with Alex at Functional Fitness. She made the experience fun, but also gave me a good challenge! She explained and demonstrated all the exercises and motivated me to complete each set. Alex was motivating and let me help structure how I wanted to spend my hour. I would highly suggested using FF for your individual training needs!

I have had two sessions with Sam and really enjoyed his insights and capacity to think outside the box. His is not a one-size fits all and has a very individualized approach to training. Sam is very observant and intuitive. I look forward to continuing my work with him.

I'm a senior citizen who has been working out here for four years. What I really like is that Functional Fitness tailors training to fit the needs of the client. It's not a one size fits all gym. I am walking better and have even gotten back more than half an inch in height as a result of the work I've been doing there. I'm in better condition than when I started training there. I would definitely recommend Functional Fitness.

I've been going to Functional Fitness for over 4 years now. What a great find. Kaitie has been my trainer for the entire duration and she is fabulous! I've worked with a couple of other trainers & therapists at FF and they each have their own strengths. I love that it isn't rows of treadmills and stationary bikes. There is an amazing variety of equipment packed into a personal sized gym. Sam runs a great gym!

I am a CU Boulder Student and I have been working with Sam for the past 6-7 months. His knowledge, skill and personality is unmatched by any coach or trainer I have ever worked with (I played basketball my entire life).
