Services
I have always had a love of animals, but it wasn't until I was in college that I truly knew being a veterinarian was for me. My favorite part of this job is watching a new patient grow from a puppy or kitten, and know that I am keeping them healthy throughout their whole life. It is such an amazing feeling when you an help a friend and their beloved pet through a difficult situation.
As your integrative veterinary clinic in San Luis Obispo, we believe that your pet is too important to solve their health issues with only one form of medicine. Not just drugs, not just acupuncture. Not just herbs, not just surgery. Not just massage, not just stem cell therapy. Instead, at Mission Animal Hospital we use everything we possibly can to help your pet.
In order to maintain our high standard of service, we require that payment be made at the time services are rendered. We provide estimates for all surgeries and hospitalizations. If you have not received an estimate, you are welcome to request one at any time for your expected charges. We are happy to accept Cash, Check, Major Credit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express) Scratchpay, and CareCredit.
Mission Animal Hospital got both my new puppy and my middle aged cat in so quickly. I called and they were able to get them in on a non emergency basis within the week. Though I can't speak on emergency basis, I can only assume they're as efficient.

They offered a "puppy package" for my 8 week old puppy which included everything she needs for the first year vet wise at a great rate but did not make me feel pressured at all to purchase it, just presented it as my choice. As well as all treatment options I was informed and included in the choice on if I thought specific vaccinations were what I wanted when they are not life threatening.
Preventive veterinary care is the cornerstone of keeping your pet their healthiest so that you and your pet can have more great years together. Since pets age more quickly than people do, it is critical to have regular physical examinations every 6-12 months to assess your pet's health. Annual age-appropriate lab tests, testing for heartworm and/or tick-borne diseases, and fecal tests for parasites may also be recommended for your pet.

I have never been treated as horribly in my life. The staff and the one Veterinarian that I spoke to were rude, condescending, and completely unprofessional. I have owned 3 retail stores and worked in retail all of my life. I understand how to deal with the public, I also understand how stressful it can be dealing with the public.
This was different.

Always feel like my dog is important to treat by vets who are compassionate and skillful. Always feel it is a safe place to take my dog and get solutions to whatever problem we are dealing with. Highly recommend their services.

I love the staff at Mission Animal Hospital. The whole staff couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. I take my senior lab retriever here for laser therapy and always feel like she's in good hands with this clinic. Thank you for great service and for being friendly and showing concern when we visit, it truly goes a long way!

I’ve been taking Lula there since she was a puppy and they are the best. It’s no wonder they keep growing and expanding. Dr. Ash is so caring and compassionate and our dog loves him!

The disclaimer for my review is that I have only visited Mission Animal Hospital during COVID. That being said, I have never had a great experience with Mission Animal Hospital.
First, they are incredibly difficult to get ahold of. I often would leave messages asking for further information or clarification which would not be returned. To further exacerbate the situation, at least a few times I received a "We tried to get ahold of you email," when I could clearly see that they never actually tried to call me.
Second, in my visits to the vet I would specifically ask for advice on issues my cat

Everyone here is wonderful! Jordan was great at getting my sick 17yr old kitty in for an appointment when they were booked out for a couple weeks. It was such a relief to get her in more quickly. I’ve seen several vets and they all have taken great care in her health. I’m so thankful for them!

Our mini Aussie Maggie is a handful and pretty skeptical of people. The wonderful staff at Mission make her feel comfortable and she is never anxious coming home from a visit.
She was just spayed and the post-op directions for us were clear and helped us be less worried about the whole process. Thank you MAH!
