SMBTKD cultivates excellence - of skill, of perception, and of character. Our instructors, relying on traditions and techniques of the Korean martial art of Taekwondo, foster the excellence inherent in each and every student who walks in our door, regardless of ability, either physical or mental. Determination to excel is the main ingredient for success at Sound Mind and Body, all the way to earning a black belt, and beyond.

Classes at Sound Mind and Body are centered on a structured approach to learning. Every minute of class is filled with activity which incorporates discipline and habituates the power of concentration. We strive not just to practice, but to practice well, keeping the mind fully engaged with the body.
Services
True masters must remain servants. What are masters but the sum total of all their students? The one who teaches learns. No one can become a teacher without students. None can call themselves 'master' if they have not cultivated the martial arts in others, like a master painter working the canvas. The history of the martial arts is clear to see; the essence of mastery is teaching and the essence of teaching is serving others.
If you've had no formal training in Taekwondo or are seeking a refresher, we invite you to participate in the free Introductory Course. This series of classes is for all beginning students, ages 7 through adult. During this series of classes, you will receive a grounding in the basics of Taekwondo.

This is an amazing place. It's much more than a training school. It's a community that fosters discipline, cooperation, commitment and love. My two children started here from scratch and have just completed their black belt test. We'd just moved to the US when they started. This school inspired it's students to improve in all facets of their lives. It's very family oriented too. The instructors are efficient and strict while caring and understanding, a difficult balance to maintain. The owner and master trainer, Mr. Peter Wahlstrom, is also a university professor. It shows. He's more than an instructor
