Services
I care deeply about high-quality, accessible education for all children. As a parent, we sought out Open Door for our children based on its inclusive model and incredible reputation. Because of the wonderful care they received and the supportive community our family found here, I am so excited to be part of ensuring that Open Door continues to serve Austin in such a special way.
We are keeping a centralized waitlist (one list for both locations), and new families who wish to attend Open Door should download and complete a Waitlist Application. Questions about the waitlist? There are two Open Door Preschool campuses: M Station and Central. Due to the pandemic crisis, we have a centralized waitlist to facilitate the enrollment at each location.
With your generous support, we raised nearly $14,000 for our tuition assistance program, Helping Hand, during this year's Amplify Austin event. Open Door's first-ever virtual Fall Fete, HOPE BLOOMS: 45 Seasons of Open Door was such a wonderful event, with surprise guests, connecting with community via break-out rooms, and much joy!
In pursuit of educational equity, Open Door Preschools nurtures and inspires young children of diverse abilities, circumstances, and backgrounds in a child-led, play-based environment. In the 1970's, there was a family wanted to send their two children to preschool together. Because their son had a disability, no one would accept them both.
Open Door's curriculum draws on several approaches (e.g., the Creative Curriculum, Reggio-Emilia, Emergent Curriculum, Nature-Based Learning, etc.); all are rooted in the guidelines for developmentally appropriate practice established by NAEYC. Ours is not a program where you will see children sitting at desks with worksheets.

Sadly they discriminate against people's health status. I do not want my daughter to experience discrimination. No reason will justify this. I will not support them until they change their stance to equality to everyone!

We were accepted into Open Door after having a really tough experience at a Montessori school. My son was extremely unhappy and often had anxiety about going to school. Behavior problems started at some point in that year and became routine. I quickly realized the Montessori environment with 27 kids in one class was not a good fit for him so I started frantically hunting for something better. We were thrilled to get the last spot in the Pre-K class at Open Door. School has gone from a major source of anxiety and frustration to a place of joy and happiness. The pre-k class is super small, only

Before I arrived at Open Door I felt helpless in finding care for my son. Once I arrived here, it was an immediate sanctuary and relief for my son and I as they swept him up like another one of their baby birds trey longed to care for. Through two beautiful classes, and the wonderful administration, I'll be forever grateful for this place in making us feel loved and cared for. :)
