The whole child is important. Using their deep knowledge of early childhood development, our teachers foster intellectual, emotional and physical growth in each individual child. Our teachers' experience in curriculum development results in play-based, hands-on learning that seamlessly incorporates: language arts, math skills, art, science and music.
Services
43rd Street Kids Preschool, Inc. is a progressive, non-profit, parent cooperative, licensed by NYC. We have been providing quality programs, at affordable prices, to our community for over 30 years. 43rd Street Kids Preschool welcomes children and families of all ethnic backgrounds, races, religions, and sexual orientation, and practices non-discriminatory hiring.
We all know that babies are explorers. At 43rd Street Kids, under the guidance of Amy Clow, babies and their adults experience and share the joy of discovery, as a community. Amy creates the perfect environment for these amazing explorers, and introduces new materials as their developmental needs change and grow.
Our play based curriculum incorporates language arts, math concepts, science, social studies, art, music, large & small motor skills, and supports social/emotional development. Heavily influenced by the schools in Reggio Emilia Italy, our teachers create an environment in which children dive into exploration and discovery.
Nancy Lilienthal, the director, has been with the school since its inception. She has a undergraduate degree in art education from the Pratt Institute and a masters degree in early childhood education from the Bank St. College of Education. While attending Bank St., she was one of the first American educators to visit the Reggio Emilia schools in Italy, and that philosophy of education became the subject of her thesis.
