Three Rivers Martial Arts is a karate school located at 968 Brookline Boulevard in the Brookline neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the South Hills area. Primarily teaching the martial art of Tang Soo Do, Three Rivers Martial Arts offers martial arts classes for children, teens, and adults on weeknights that will help them to improve their balance, coordination, flexibility, and awareness.

Students will learn self-defense and be able to defend themselves if needed. Students improve their self-confidence and self-discipline and will benefit from the exercise they will get during classes, helping them to get in shape or stay in shape. Three Rivers Martial Arts is always accepting new students and anybody who is interested in trying out a class can join us any night we are holding classes.
Services
The martial art we primarily practice at Three Rivers Martial Arts is Tang Soo Do. Tang Soo Do has its origins in South Korea, but like many martial arts, is really a mixture of influences from many different parts of the world. To borrow from my old teacher, Master Fawcett, we like to call what we do at Three Rivers Martial Arts Tang Soo Do Plus.
There are time slots available for these classes on Tuesday and Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. These classes aren't happening currently due to lack of students. If you are interested in taking any of these classes, please contact the school to let us know. Private Lessons: Typically held before or after classes for the night.
New students are always welcome at Three Rivers Martial Arts. We accept new students year round, there are no specific times when students have to begin taking classes. New karate students are invited to try out classes free of charge for one week before deciding if they would like to sign up for longer.
The martial arts we primarily practice at Three Rivers Martial Arts is Tang Soo Do, which has its origins in South Korea. Due to this, some of the terms used during class are in Korean instead of English. Below are the terms we use in class that are in Korean. The English word is on the left and the Korean word is on the right.
We do practice sparring, or fighting, at Three Rivers Martial Arts. Sparring is practice fighting with a partner and allows students to practice both their attacking and defense against another live opponent. It develops a student's timing and understanding of spacing and distance and knowledge about what is or isn't an effective technique.
