Built in 1961 as an adobe replica of Bent's Old Fort (1833-1849) by her parents, Sam'l P. and Elizabeth Arnold, The Fort was originally commissioned as the family home. Later in the construction process, however, the Arnolds chose to open the lower level as a restaurant, specializing in "New Foods of the Old West."

Nothing to complain about the place. The staff were polite and professional. I went solo and ordered the game plate and 3 other side dishes. To give an example of the quality of the food, let's look at the mundane potato wedges served with the entree: the potatoes were cooked to the right tenderness. They had very rich sweet corn flavor even though there was not a kernel of corn served in the plate. You can also order the books about the restaurant and or the recipes of the food served. I was reading "eat up the Santa fe trail", learning the stories behind the restaurant, the history of the wild

3rd time dining here and last night's dining experience compelled me to post a review. Each and every time I've dined at The Fort, the food and service has been stellar. Last night was another exceptionally stellar experience. The appetizers were delicious, the salad was delicious, our steaks were great quality and cooked to perfection! Our servers, Lynn and Zoe, worked together liked a well oiled machine, and dessert was the cherry on top of the evening experience. Last week I was in Las Vegas and had a ribeye at Gordon Ramsey Steak that cost $100 bucks! Not only was the dry aged ribeye

Update to my last review..... I had a very terrible experience at the Fort. Cold when we arrived, they completely screwed up my meal, and my fathers and nothing was cooked right in any of the dishes. The replacement meal for mine came out only when it was too late and by that time I just wanted out of there. So.......being so angry with them I decided to call them today. I didn't put up a scene yesterday because my parents were with me and they get embarrassed if it even starts to look like it could be a scene. Anyhow I called today and talked to a manager named Chris. He was very defensive

We were entertaining and our guests wanted to eat some western game…so we went to The Fort. Even though we live a stones throw, we had never gone. The Fort is the place we had hoped it was. Full of charm, detailed service, and delicious food and cocktail. The view was gorgeous as well. It delivered on every level and we will certainly be inviting other guests as an excuse to transport back in time for a refined-western meal.

Extremely impressed by our evening at The Fort. From the views, music and service we had a wonderful night. Our server Ruth was so informative, full of facts about the restaurant and recommendations of dishes that she enjoyed. She has worked there for 15 years and was a joy to have as our server. We were also greeted by the in house musical performer who was so kind and talented. The drinks were tasty and we loved the Prime Rib and Elk Steak. You must get the Green Chile Mac N Cheese and I also loved the egg nog Creme Brulee. It was lovely to learn the history for this building and enjoy a delicious

This place was a beautiful place to go visit in it's very upscale and the architecture is out of this world it is very beautiful and has great views. The it was. The menu is very authentic and stays true to its roots I would highly recommend going to this place for the atmosphere alone. This period the staff is very friendly and takes care of their customers. The waiter was able to explain every dish it's a dish in great detail and make great recommendations for the whole table. I would always love to recommend the Fort and I will always come back for their great great food and love.

What a great time we had! The service was wonderful. We started off with the sampler appetizer and it was fantastic. The Rocky Mountain Oysters are fabulous!! I had the trio for my main and it was delicious also. Loved the quail! And for dessert we shared the Negrita. We had a great time at a really cool location. I totally recommend The Fort!

Everything about the Fort was great. We loved all decor and they had a nice fire going on a cooler fall night. The food was amazing. First time trying buffalo prime rib and I can't wait to go back and get more. The service was amazing also! The whole experience of the Fort was memorable and we are planning our next visit already.

The views and atmosphere are good, but the food was pretty "meh." For the price they charge, I was hoping for some effort and love put into the food. That simply wasn't there. My NY strip steak was tough, and looked like it had been thrown on the plate (no proper plating). When my wine finally came, it was served in a cheap glass. The butter was cold and in packets, and the bison tongue appetizer was comically small. The service was awkward and inconsistent. The creme brûlée was excellent, but that's about it.
This all breaks my heart, as we used to frequent The Fort for

The views are beautiful. That's about it.
Let me start off by stating that I am Argentinean. I know my meats.
The pricing for the quality of food is absurd. Ordered a low quality ribeye cooked at medium and it came out medium-well. Maybe it rested too long at the window. Also, it was the rib eye was not dry aged. I am a fan of the art and I, myself dry age and salt cure my meats.
The menu simply does not make sense. Steakhouse with guac and chips?
I did enjoy the bone marrow appetizer. The service was nothing special, our server seemed to avoid eye contact and almost looked right through

I can't say enough about this place! First just the Fort itself and the history is amazing but the service was stellar with great recommendations and we tried several things on the menu and all were just so tender and flavorful. First and foremost, the wait staff we had while dining were exceptional and not the issue with this review.
Another review was posted similar to what I will say, nothing was terrible but nothing was great. The price point for the menu is off. I had the duck and the skin wasn't crispy at all. If duck is on the menu the cook should know how to render the skin. The "seasonal veggies" were nothing exciting. My father had the lamb that again, was nothing exceptional. The bread basket comes with pates of butter in foil that are cold. I have never spent $300 on a meal and had the same butter

If ever you need to find the perfect setting for a date, look no further than The Fort. Location provides you with epic views that lovebirds can hold each other while you take in the wonderful scenery. Okay, enough with the mushy stuff.. Onto the food!
For me, the appetizers looked far more appealing than the main courses. We ordered the bone marrow, rocky mountain oysters, and Bison tongue. And I when I say I was overwhelmed with joy, is an understatement. The bone marrow was so rich and buttery, that I didn't need Chapstick for a couple weeks. But do order this dish and you will leave

It's been 4.5 years since I have been here and so much has changed. That is, except the food here. I ordered something entirely different - a ribeye - and it was incredible. We had stuff mushrooms for an appetizer and several sides and everything was just really, really good. I'm happy to have had the opportunity to return and hope to do it again sometime soon!

Got back from my "family emergency trip" to Florida right in time for my wedding anniversary. I guess Hubby missed me and we decided to go someplace "special " for dinner.
We picked The Fort. We had only been one other time, and that was over 15 years ago. The Fort is located near the cool, little town of Morrison, Colorado. The setting and views are wonderful.
Reservations are required but they are at full capacity. We started with the spicy bean dip which was really yummy. Being the good Southern girl that I am, I had a Georgia Mint Julep cocktail. We had bread

Updated review. In the leftovers we brought home, we found a piece of the meat packing cooked onto our $40 T-bone. If we would've noticed while we were in the restaurant we would've asked for a refund and left immediately.
The prices are EXTREMELY high for the food you get. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great either. I would have been satisfied with my meal if everything on the menu was $15 less, but for the premium price the are charging, the food should be nothing less than exceptional. Service was slow even though the restaurant was mostly empty. Food came out cold and had to

What a lovely restaurant week experience. We started with the prickly pear margarita pitcher outside while we waited for our table. So charming. So delicious. (Bright pink drinks make me nervous but so good.) Once inside we started with the Rocky Mountain oysters, the beef tongue and the quail eggs with Buffalo sausage. The eggs and oysters were great. Tongue didn't have much to it so personally I'd skip that next time. We all went with the Buffalo tenderloin special and it did not disappoint. Mac n cheese on the side is a MUST. Finished with the choc cake and vanilla ice cream and pants

I definitely passed on the Rocky Mountain oysters... but enjoyed everything else!!! This restaurant is literally in an old fort, basically a stones throw from red rocks! It is higher end and old fashioned in a good way. My wonderful bestie got a table reservation for Denver restaurant week. I arrived at 701 and everyone was already seated for our 7 pm rez. The waitress was a national treasure lol.. she was so nice and helpful and patient!
The restaurant week deal was excellent! A salad, steak with a side (I chose their Mac n cheese- get it!!!), and dessert for $35. The steak also came with a

I went with a group of friends to try their Restaurant week menu and see this very old establishment that hosts a steakhouse. It does look like a fortress from the outside and the restaurant itself is traditional and serves mostly steaks.
Although they advertised a vegetarian option on their online menu, they didn't have any. So I I ordered shrimp from the regular menu, $23/4 pieces and some sides. The shrimp was so overcooked that I was barely able to cut it through. I sent it back and the second time it was better. I expected quality for this price, and one of my friends said her steak was
