United Studios Of Self Defense
My name is Richard Black and I am the owner of United Studios of Self Defense. When I was a child, I began my martial arts journey and the positive impact it had on my life was remarkable.

It was always my dream to someday own my own school and when I opened United Studios of Self Defense in 2001, I made a commitment to our communities in Anthem, Caughlin Ranch and Aliante to create an enjoyable environment for students to improve their fitness, while building confidence they can carry into their everyday lives. Our children's martial arts program creates leaders.

In today's society, everyone can and should have the skills to defend themselves. USSD's process for teaching self-defense is founded upon a system of Martial Arts used by the Shaolin monks that is over two thousand years old. USSD instructors are expertly trained in our proprietary system of self-defense based on the practices of Shaolin's warrior monks.
Before we found martial arts, we really struggled with how to approach our son's impulsive behavior. We couldn't find a way to discipline him that made a difference in his behavior. Martial arts trained him in self-discipline which substantially improved not only his behavior, but his grades in school as well.
Our Kids Martial Arts program will help your child develop self-confidence, discipline, and respect for others at a young age. Martial arts sometimes gets a bad rap. People often erroneously believe that it glorifies violence. They falsely associate it solely with Hollywood kicks and punches. While self-defense is an aspect of it, martial arts goes far beyond that.
We help teens build a solid foundation for adulthood through the development of essential life skills. They'll discover amazing benefits that they can carry with them for years to come! Here at United Studios of Self Defense, it is our goal to create a safe and encouraging learning environment, where they can learn self-defense, discipline and confidence without being ridiculed for their mistakes.

I've been taking classes for about 6 years now, and still love every minute. Sensei Vineyard is an extremely professional martial artist, very attune to what each student wants to get from martial arts, and is incredibly knowledgeable. He teaches men and women, teenagers, and children. Private one-on-one tutoring is the main focus here, and you can attend as many group classes as you want. Everyone is such a pleasure to train with. My life has changed for the better since I started taking classes here. Being a petite woman, I've learned how to properly defend myself, but I've also learned spiritual

I started training at USSD Caughlin Ranch about a year ago. Not only are the martial arts skills useful, but the workouts help to build core strength, cardiovascular health, and overall physical fitness. Sensei Nathan trains students in self defense, discipline, and self-control. The atmosphere in the dojo is friendly, and the instructor and other students are welcoming.

Great Self-defense studio for all ages and family friendly! Sensei Chris is very welcoming and knowledgeable. Classes for beginners to advanced and they work with your schedule. For me it is a great way to get fit physically and mentally! I came in for Tai Chi and found an interest in Kempo Karate... thanks USSD.
