At Linzie Kenpo Karate, we believe that martial arts training can help every child and adult develop the mental and physical skills they need to succeed in life. Martial Arts isn't just about self-defense like so many believe.
At Linzie Kenpo Karate, it's all about self-confidence, improved focus, physical strength, and positive social interaction. Linzie Kenpo Karate teaches our members to set goals, work hard, and follow-through, all the while having fun and making friends. Martial Arts is very important to Linzie Kenpo Karate.

Since the popularity of mixed Martial Arts hit mainstream media, more and more people in the Reno community are looking to Martial Arts classes for their fitness and workout routine. Our programs in Karate and Self Defense will help you or your child improve their physical strength, flexibility, confidence, and self-discipline.
Three to four year olds love physical activity and anything involving play. They have a rich imagination and strong desire to be less dependent on their usual caregivers. The problem we discovered is that many children this age have a hard time with structure in a group environment like what is commonly found in most Martial Arts schools.
Five and six-year olds are the most enthusiastic students. They love creativity and problem solving, which makes them ideal students in the Martial Arts. The problem we discovered is they are so progressive in following tasks, some teachers tend to treat them like their older peers. This is a problem because they still do not have the basic skills necessary to keep up with children ages 7 and up.
Seven to nine-year olds are what most people consider "the golden age." They are proficient in their vocabulary and problem-solving skills, yet they are not at the age where they want complete independence from adults. This makes the teacher-student relationship stronger than ever. The problem we discovered is they still lack core skills, and although they are highly intelligent, they struggle to keep up with students ages 10 and up.
The Extreme SKILLZ program helps kids maximize their physical and intellectual capabilities in a stable and nurturing environment. Kids between the ages of 10 and 14 are capable of great things - but they need the right tools and encouragement to accomplish them. It's normal for kids at this age to be tempted by taking the easy way out of challenges, but we work with them to help them reach their full physical and intellectual potential.

I have been taking classes for about 6 months now and I really enjoy it ! It is great exercise and builds confidence . The instructor is professional and pushes us to do our best but not go at a faster pace than we are comfortable. I encourage people to come down and check it out and sit in on a class. I would highly recommend it to anybody interested in learning a martial art or just for the exercise !

Our son has issues with focus and extra energy due to a neurology disorder caused by seizures that started at 11 months old. His training with Linzie Kenpo Karate has helped him more than I could ever explain! Mr. Linzie is so patient and disciplined with the kids at the same time. They have a ton of structured fun. It's amazing what the entire group has accomplished in such a short period. We highly recommend Mr. Linzie!!!

My daughter loves it here! She’s pretty shy but kicks butt in karate. She loves to learn new techniques and Sensai Antoine is great with a balance of fun and discipline. It’s perfect! He’s flexible with scheduling, texts back immediately and offers zoom if a child can’t be in person every time.

Antoine was a wonderful instructor. I took his 6 week course for women's defense. I felt so much more confident after completing his program. I have taken some martial arts in the past and I especially liked how Antoine got straight to the meat of his techniques, cutting out some of the unnecessary artistic movements. I think every woman should take this course for basic defensive skills. Antoine taught situational awareness like where to park and how to return safely to your car at night. So many little things I never thought about that will make a big difference in my safety. Thank you Antoine

I was pleasantly surprised to find Sensei Linzie is in the direct tree of Ed Parker. The lineage branches to Dave Hebler, then to Barry Elwood then to Antoine Linzie. For authenticity of American Kenpo's sake this is a great thing.
The dojo/training center is conveniently located and there's plenty of parking in a secure and well lit complex.
Mr. Linzies teaching style is really good and he seems to be as thorough with the adult class as he is the little ones (never really too early as long as you can pay attention for the instruction!) But he makes sure you understand what your doing
