I have been renting with Buchanan Property Management for 2 almost 3 years now and I am so happy living in my apartment. I moved to San Diego from chicago and everyone at the office and in my building complex are extremely helpful and kind. I've lived in other apartments but none were as nice and comfortable as this place. I definitely recommend Buchanan property management

DO NOT rent from Buchanan PM! They will do whatever they can to take as much of your deposit as possible.
I only lived at one of their properties for a year, was a model tenant (they kept asking why I was leaving) - kept the place extremely clean, and they still shorted me $500 on my security deposit. They charged me for a $200 cleaning without any proof to justify it needed professional cleaning, saying they charge all their tenants the same charge (which is actually illegal). Then they tried to charge me for repairs on things that I added to the house and paid for myself. I sent them the receipts

I only gave a one star because they wouldn't let me give zero stars. I also don't usually write reviews but my experience with Buchanan property management was so awful that I decided to leave a review so others don't get taken advantage of. Any time there was an issue on property I would reach out and would never hear back from management. The listed amenities that are posted are horrible. Recycling/trash was hardly ever taken care of, the property was hardly maintained, the laundry facilities were a mess and hardly useable, and the entire time I lived there they not once cleaned the pool. I do NOT recommend at all. I would give 0 stars if I could. I truly believe they do not care about their tenants or their properties at all. There was a rat infestation in one of their properties (2937 2nd Ave) and they were completely negligent, unprofessional and uncaring. The conditions were unsanitary and inhabitable. Would not recommend based on my experience.

Overall, I wouldn’t choose to rent from this company again.
Pros:
- Beatriz in the office is very nice and helpful.
- Maintenance personnel are professional and timely and helped me in an emergency situation once (I was charged a huge fee, but still, they were there)
Cons:
- Did not feel property was overall a good value for the rent charged.
- Finishes, paint, and appliances look nice but aren’t very good quality.
- Inconsistent rental practices and frequent turnover in rental units.
- Did not feel safe in units. Theft of my property and occasional homeless people hanging around the

I moved into a rental property on 4/2020.
It is the most discussing place I have ever moved in to. The apartment had not been cleaned, painted and had a roach infestation. The management company takes advantage of tenants. They don't fixes or maintains the property. I would never use the Buchanan Property Management ever again. I caution everyone if you are planning to do business with them. Good luck

I called the leasing office to inquire about upcoming vacancies at some of their properties. It is worth noting that this call was placed after an email I sent was never responded to.
The woman I spoke to at the leasing office, Tracy, was not interested in helping me. In fact, I would describe her tone as aggressive. Snappy and short, she told me that nothing is currently, nor will be coming available in the next few months. I offered to leave my contact information in case anything did, and she said 'we don't have what you're looking for, i'm not gong to take your information.'

I agree with the previous reviewers that I would not recommend doing business with this property management company. The relationship between the office and the renters took on a somewhat adversarial quality as our time there progressed. While some of the folks in the office are super competent and kind, as I reflect on our time there and compare it to other rental experiences I do feel the Blue Point Townhomes are a poor value for the money and that the property management style of this company leaves much to be desired.

If you ever have the unfortunate opportunity to rent a property with this "property management company" run in the opposite direction. You'd be better off setting up a tent in the local park. First they illegally ran the power for a communal laundry facility through our individual unit's power bill, which we paid for for 2 years without knowing. When we discovered this, it took them months to provide any kind of assistance, and they provided a measly credit which barely covered half of what we had unknowingly been paying for. I've had apartments most of my adult life, and I have never experienced a property management company that cared less about their tenants than this company.
For example, there was a water main break (not their fault) that happened late in the afternoon. Both of the tenant buildings lost water. Several units had small children living there, so having access to hot water is critical.
