Healey, John C
John Healy opened his first funeral home in South Philadelphia in 1904. Around 1910, the family name inexplicably changed to Healey, but the service remained the same. The business involved John's brother, Joseph, who also opened his own home in South Philadelphia. In 1935, Joseph's son, John A. Healey, II opened the family's first South Jersey funeral home for a brief time before returning to his Philadelphia roots.

In 1946, John purchased an old home from James Wentzell on the White Horse Pike in Haddon Heights marking his return to South Jersey. He converted this building into the John A. Healey Funeral Home and this location remains the anchor for the family business today. Independently owned and operated, Healey Funeral Homes now consist of two locations, one in Haddon Heights and another location in Cherry Hill that was established in 1970.

Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.
