Services
The Gardner Funeral Home was established in 1932 by Edward C. Gardner, grandfather of Wendy L. Gardner. The second generation began with Edward C. Gardner, Jr. in 1957 when he graduated from Eckels School of Mortuary College. Edward, Jr. took over ownership in 1978. That same year, David H. Gardner joined the funeral home finishing high school.
Cremation as a disposition can be, and should be, just as personal as a burial and funeral service. Personalizing a cremation with a celebration of life can be very therapeutic. A celebration gives you and your family something to concentrate on as you relive memories. We offer many ways to personalize a service.

Gardner always did right for our family until Debbie passed, she passed in December 2020, we had the viewing and arrangements done by Gardner. Debbie was cremated. The burial was arranged by Gardner, they had the permit and vault, so I did not think I had to tell them to make sure you bring the vault. We had her burial at St. Joes on September 29, 2021 after ceremony when I asked to see the vault (there was a green covering over the hole) I was told "what vault you did not purchase one". I have the papers you signed. But, we do have a vault at Gardner I will go and get it. I said I had a copy of

Funeral planning is not something I have much experience with. The whole Gardner team was absolutely wonderful, they made everything easy. They provided guidance and thought of every detail. The experience dealing with the funeral director, Bill, at the Runnemede NJ location was exceptional. He was kind, patient, accommodating, and extremely helpful. I give Gardner 5 stars. My family has been using them for years and recently we used them for the passing of my mother. Due to Co-vid, we are having her service at a later time and needed to have her cremated. Nick and the rest of the staff is absolutely amazing. Very kind and follows through on whatever you ask of them. We went to view my mothers… body before she was cremated and she looked so at peace and beautiful. She was cleaned up and no makeup (which is what we requested). They had a beautiful quilt covering her and she looked as if she was sleeping. I couldn’t have asked for

It is hard to find adequate words for just how profoundly pleased we are after trusting Gardner Funeral Home (Runnemede) and Funeral Director Zach Shields with the celebration of life and transition to eternal… rest for our father Robert J. Sutton. At one of the saddest times of our lives we are just so happy (yes an odd word choice...but so true) with every moment of the entire process from start to finish. As a former director of a hospital service that brought me in contact with various funeral directors Gardner's rates up at the top.
