The mission of Peartree Preschool is to provide a warm and encouraging atmosphere that enhances self-concept, instills basic moral values, encourages social interaction, and enriches awareness of the natural and cultural world. We're a warm and loving community of preschoolers, teachers, and parents who inspire imagination, creativity, and play for every learner.
Peartree employs a play-based, child-centered approach to early childhood education. Our curriculum is a dynamic, interactive experience that builds on the interests of young children and influences them in developmentally appropriate ways. Anything and everything that happens during the day, planned or unplanned, is a part of our curriculum.
Through integrating art, music, nature, creative movement, sensory materials, free and dramatic play, cooking, science, stories, and outdoor play, the children explore the environment and become knowledgeable and comfortable in their interactions with the world. Our preschoolers have a lot of fun while building a bond with the natural world.
We believe children learn better when they feel they are in a secure and comfortable environment. As an eco-healthy preschool, we take great care in creating a safe and healthy environment that inspires imaginations and protects the health of our children and staff. We are housed in a 6,500 square foot facility, including 5 sun-drenched classrooms, an indoor play area, and library.

Peartree is an amazing preschool. My daughter attended form the ages of 2-5. The teachers were all so welcoming , attentive and caring. It is always such a difficult decision to place your child into the care of others. They go beyond teaching a diverse curriculum reflective of the community it serves. I can say, without a moment of hesitation, that I trusted the school with the care and enrichment of my daughter.

Peartree is wonderful. My daughter attended for 2 years and we loved it. The care and attention she received was bar none. My daughter came home happy every day, she received a great education, and grew socially and emotionally. I highly recommend Peartree. It is much needed and welcome in the Harlem community.

Our son has been attending Peartree Preschool for the past 2 years and our experience has been nothing short of amazing. The teachers, the space, the diverse community is everything that we were envisioning when we enrolled him. The space is beautiful and bright with state of the art equipment and a progressive curriculum. There is even an outdoor space! Our son is thriving and we are so grateful to be a part of the Peartree family. We love the teachers and the Director, Denise, is very caring and responsive, she always takes her time and makes us feel at ease. We can only recommend this wonderful

I cannot say how grateful my family is to Peartree! Our daughter has been a "friend" for 3 years and now that she is starting kindergarten this fall, it is a bittersweet goodbye. The school and the teachers are amazing, they have their own back yard, big bright windows, an incredibly caring and diverse environment. They send daily emails with what the children did every day, what questions you can ask your child about the activities and pictures of all the friends engaging in creative projects. This has been the highlight of my day for 3 years! -They also have a gym where they are exposed

My daughter attended Peartree for two years. I observed how my daughter went from a quiet little girl to a confident, curious and creative girl. She graduated more then ready and excited for kindergarten. The facility is top of line children friendly with a variety of educational tools to support their program. The teachers are well educated, creative and passionate about their kids. Their administrative staff supported my daughter through her kindergarten application process. This school is an excellent addition to our Harlem community and I highly reccomend this preschool.

The school opened a few years ago in Harlem which was much needed. It's a nice, small school with all of the greatest intentions. However, we have found that the management is still poor, lots of teacher turnover, and communication still lagging behind. If you're desperate for a local school, you could try Pear Tree but like other parents, you may get frustrated with the 'start up' mistakes and misteps.
