Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home was started by the Thompson family in Oak Lawn, IL in 1917 off historic 95th Street. Bob Kuenster was introduced in 1980 and runs the facility currently with his hard working staff. Bob is the owner, and operator of Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home, proud to be one of the last family-owned funeral homes in the area.
Bob is an active trustee on the Mother McAuley High School Board of Directors, has served on the Board of Oak Lawn School District 123, Crisis Center for Abused Women & Children, Oak Lawn Parks Foundation, Board of Directors of Park Lawn School, and received their Ambassador Award. His most recent appointment is to the Board of Directors of Oak Lawn Bank.

Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home would like to thank our friends and neighbors who filled their cars with bags full of canned soup, fruit, macaroni & cheese, Cheerio's, peanut butter and all kinds of delicious things to feed hungry families. We were warmed on a chilly day by the sight of a steady stream of 200 cars dropping off food donations in our parking lot.

I wanted the most simple of ceremonies for the recent passing of my father. My mother and brother were buried through TKFH so I felt comfortable going back for my father. I met with Bob and we talked over pricing for what I wanted to be done. After receiving their proposal I called another home just to check the pricing and found TKFH to be over $6,000 dollars higher than what I received at the other funeral home doing the exact same things.
Having gone through this, I can not tell you the disappointment I feel in this establishment .

Unfortunately came here to honor a beloved friend and the owner was offputting and rude with his staff. Demanded that doors be opened for him, even remarked "open the f**king door " to his underaged employees. Family members reported that he refused to answer questions regarding cremation in favour of a more expensive wake/burial. Beautiful facility, but will never have services here.

No one took more loving care of the arrangements then Bob. My mom loved christmas, Bob put up one of his huge beautiful christmas trees for her wake, in july.
When my husband passed, Bob did everything. It was the perfect "see ya later". Never say good-bye.
Then my dad, he was one of a kind. He use to tell Bob "I WANT THE CHEAPEST" But he got the best.
They make the most heartbreaking time in your life
go as smooth as possible. Ive made my arrangements with Kuenster, and I know it will go as planned. Thank You Bob and Family.
