Excellent, age appropriate instruction. The teachers seem to genuinely enjoy working with children. My son is 6 and hyperactive and they are very patient with him. They relate instruction to real life scenarios, explaining how techniques can be used to protect oneself but ALSO how to know what situations are appropriate to defend oneself. I highly recommend their services.

We love American Kenpo Karate! Both of my daughters, ages 11 and 7, have taken lessons there for over a year, and have had a very positive experince. The instructors are WONDERFUL with kids, balancing gently pushing them out of their comfort zones while also supporting them and bolstering their self confidence. My kids have enjoyed both the group classes and the private lessons. I'm so happy that our family found American Kenpo Karate!

I have had the privilege of joining the team here for practice a few times a month, and I have to say that the depth of exploration, sharing and teaching that goes on here is exceptional. From Children, Teenagers to adults - the exploration into the Martial arts is deep and thoughtful. You will be glad you decided to participate at this quality school.

Reviewing just the kickboxing classes here because that's all i've taken. the instructor is legitimately trained, and a good teacher. she keeps things both technical and lively, changes up drills each time so it's not boring. i've been to quite a few kickboxing classes in the area and while a couple others i could name are good workouts, they tend to be pretty repetitive. plus it's a small group at AKK, so there's a back-and-forth dynamic to the class, not just people anonymously punching bags with no oversight. a bonus that the group is friendly, making for a positive

Out of everything I do in the week, karate is the one I look forward to the most. Master Jeffcoat and his many other black and brown belt instructors are incredibly knowledgable and respectful. I am an advanced kids 2nd degree brown belt and greatly enjoy my time in the studio. This is a good, safe environment for kids and adults. I absolutely love Kenpo and the family I have formed at this studio. If you're looking for a place to learn karate, workout and have fun, this is hands down the best place to be.

I have been studying with Master Rick Jeffcoat for 26 years. First, there are few athletes of his caliber. I've been a baseball player and a martial artist for my entire life and I've never experienced anyone faster off a dime, or with better balance and physical finesse. Secondly, Rick is a master teacher who can adjust the art of Kenpo to anyone's body, and anyone's physicality. He makes the art practical and applicable to real life situations. I'm not going to lie, Kenpo has become my favorite part of the week. It keeps me active, learning, and adhering to a schedule, all things difficult for a freelancer. I really enjoy how Master Rick Jeffcoat has set up the learning style here. I've tried Kyokushin Karate and another Kenpo studio before, but I've come to enjoy Kenpo as a style of martial arts that is adapted more for quick self defense and serious situations in the modern world. Personally, I love the language of Kenpo as it makes the most sense to me.

American Kenpo Karate is the most amazing martial arts studio! My kids and I have been doing it together for the last 8 years. The curriculum is structured and developmental. The instruction is clear. The instructors are well-trained Black Belts who continue to learn through their own practice. The studio offers self-defense, karate classes, and kickboxing. They have group classes and private and offer kids and adult classes. What a great place to focus while getting fit!

Rick's school teaches the application of the art with the understanding of not only how to defend and attack, but what your defending against and why your attacking, defining the etymology of the move.
Its one thing to learn a technique to perfection, and when you execute it, it sure looks pretty. But, its another thing to understand the attack, and the defense and move with purpose. If you want an education and a workout in Kenpo, check this school out. Hands down, the best I've ever seen!!!!!

Well first of all the place has zero heat and zero cooling which makes it pretty uncomfortable for at least half the year. my son has a year contract here but will switch to Arnott Kenpo when the contract is up. Jeffcoat may be OK for adults but you can tell he hates teaching the kid classes and often has the advanced adults teaching the kids. As a parent just walking in I thought Mr Arnott owned this place but turns out he was just the only one I ever saw teaching kids and coming up to the parents to talk to us. The grouchy guy in the office (Jeffcoat) was the owner! who knew? Oh and parking

Best Kenpo studio around! Trust me on this, I've been to almost all of them. Mr. Jeffcoat has a wealth of knowledge and utilizes practical applications for this system. He also teaches most the classes which is rare. Usually the owner of the studio will have his underlings teaching, which is fine but would you rather learn from a master, or a person who is competent? Duh, a master of course...
