Joao gives the absolute best cut and blow out. I've been going to him for 8 years, 3 of which I lived in Southern CT and could have taken an easy 40 minute train to NYC but continued to drive all the way back to Boston. He's that good! I get more compliments and absolutely love my hair. Congrats on the new salon!
Joao feels strongly that stylists should keep growing and honing their skills. Toward that end, he holds classes every Tuesday on advancing cutting and styling. An affordable option for a cut taught by master stylist, Joao soares, is to model for one of his classes on Tuesdays from 12-2 pm. Cost is $20.

I am so in love with this Salon, I am very specific about my hair and Joao is by far the best hair-stylist I found in Boston been living here for 5 years now. He knew exactly what my hair needed and gave me a perfect straight and shiny hair. Loved his blowdry style as well. Gonna stick to him for future haircut and styling.

Joao took good care of me, from fixing up my wonky hair (I’ve been growing out a shaved section) and turning it into a cute bob, to getting me sparkling water and teaching me how to get my hair to stay curly. Plus, I usually hate having to talk to hairstylists, but talking with Joao was really easy and enjoyable. I’d definitely go again 🙌🏼

I was on vacation in boston, sept 2018. needed a haircut really bad. Bostonian Hotel across from Feneuil Hall, recommended Salon JLS, Joao Soares, owner. I was a little apprehensive going to someone I didn't know. Joao, spent 1.5 hrs just cutting my hair in a way its never been cut before. I loved it. I received a lot of compliments from people I didn't even know. He is very professional and very likeable. I highly recommend him for a fantastic hair cut.

I looked and felt amazing after going to Salon JLS! They worked a miracle on my hair -from dry, frizzy, and damaged to shiny, straight, and healthy! Relaxed, classy atmosphere, friendly conversation, and incredible skill made this one of the best salon experiences Iv'e ever had. Would highly recommend!

Joao is incredible!! In Boston from out of town and always a loyal customer of my NYC salon. This is the first time I haven't been in about 7 years but won't get there for a few more weeks so spent some time reviewing options throughout Boston. I ultimately decided on JLS for highlights and a cut. He is brilliant! The highlights were so natural, cut exactly how I wanted it and it helps that he is a such a wonderful person. The salon is centrally located, clean, products natural and all around experience of the highest caliber. Now I just wish Joao/ JLS was closer. I would HIGHLY recommend

I got a hair cut this week by Lisa Yanes at JLS and she did a fabulous job. She took her time working on my hair and had no problem going back and tweaking a bit more when I asked her to. The salon itself was clean, modern and inviting. It was a great experience overall and I will definitely be back!

Salon JLS is awful. I got my eyebrows done by a cool stylist, who did an amazing (AMAZING!) job. However, I can't give the business more than one star, because the owner is a joke.
While I was in the salon with two other customers, the stylist, and Joao (the owner), he decided it would be appropriate to scold the stylist for accepting a walk in haircut appointment 30 minutes before she had a scheduled appointment with someone else. Like, do you not want business, Joao? Would you prefer the stylist not care about customers and rudely turn her away for no reason? The stylist apologized for

I've followed Joau from one salon to another on Newbury Street for over
20 years. He's a true master with any type of hair. Mine is very curly and
nobody has ever cut it with as much patience and skill. He has designed his own salon with all of the features that he realized over the years are key to an upscale, relaxed and light filled space. I would give the JLS Salon 10 stars if I could!

I had my first experience having my hair cut and styled at Salon JLS today and I was very impressed. My appointment was with Kelly, and I also got to speak with the owner, Joao while I was there. They were both very friendly, respectful and accommodating. I don't always feel comfortable in every salon I've been to, but both of them made me feel very welcome and addressed all my concerns and requests. OMG I am soooooo happy with my hair. Kelly did a cut and color for me and it turned out PERFECT. I didn't give the best explanation of what I wanted and yet Kelly took exactly what I had envisioned and put it on my head. The cut is PHENOMENAL, it's absolutely perfect and it's so precise! The color is gorgeous, she made sure I got exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier. Kelly is such a gem and I feel so lucky that I found her :) I've also had a blowout done by Joao, which was also fantastic. This is the cleanest salon I've ever been to and it's beautiful

Salon JLS is amazing! I have never been to a place that makes me feel more at home. It is the perfect combination of comfort and style-- there is no attitude here, you don't have to arrive in full make up or a special outfit, you come as you are-- and you leave looking and feeling like a million bucks. Joao Soares is truly a master stylist. He knows exactly what each person needs regardless of their hair length or texture. I am continually impressed with his suggestions and thoughtful care. He makes each customer feel truly special and important.

Great salon!
I work on State street and have been looking for a good salon in the financial/haymarket area for awhile. This salon is brand new...so cute. The owner, Joao, did a great job cutting and styling my hair! I have a combination of wavy and straight hair and I finally found someone who understands how to cut it so it falls right.
