The Mission Square Restaurant & Lounge

It was a nice dinner. The food was good. The vibe was nice moderate, there is music playing and people talking. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We were there catching up with friends, didn't really see the waiter. But that didn't matter too much since we had nice company. Their outdoor patio is cute and there is outdoor heaters which was good to have.

There was plenty of street parking when we went on a Saturday night. Overall nice place to have dinner, good food and good wine.

Such a hidden gem!! This is some of the best Italian food I have ever had, the quality and flavor are both extraordinary. The courtyard dining is intimate and pretty. Not only is the food good, but I think the prices are very reasonable for Italian food. We ordered the calamari, several pizzas, bread for apps. Various pastas for dinner, all excellent choices. Can't wait to come back again!

Alfredo sauce was a bit salty for my gnocchi but pizza is amazing here! Love the fresh bread. Didn't like that i waited and extra 20mins when i arrived for pick up. Pizza was cold when i got home so im guessing the calamari and pasta wasn't ready but the pizza was.

The worst service, S####y food and the longest wait time. There was only one other party that the manager would sit down with as we waited almost half an hour for drinks alone. And another 30 just to have pasta that was covered in Heinz tomato sauce without any seasoning. F##k this place!!

Favorite local Italian restaurant just off the central Uptown area. Very pleasant setting within a historic building. Summer nights and warm weather make outside patio seating a romantic place with tables small and large, or even couches to relax and sip wine. Inside seating and party reservations also available. Food is delicious and nice portions/options. Small round freshly baked bread available and offered comes complimentary paired with minced garlic, basil slices in olive oil within a small hand size dipping bowl... don't get too crazy filling yourself with the bread while waiting for

We celebrated a birthday with a small party of 14 people, so I he score is a consensus score with reviews of the dishes I tasted.

We shared the calamari appetizer and Antipasto Di La Casa. Both were amazing, but definitely prefer the calamari. Light and flavorful. Antipasti was good, but not something i would typically order and was a group choice.

As an entree, I ordered the linguine pescatore and loved it. Flavors were on point and had generous portions of fish, calamari and shell fish. The sauce was light and delicious. I forgot to order it spicy, but a scoop or two of chili flakes solved

Delicious Italian food . Gourmet style and high quality. The margarita pizza with eggplant is delicious . A must to eat at in Whittier . Great service !

I love this restaurant. The courtyard is the perfect place for a date night and the food is good to boot! What a hidden gem in Uptown that I had no idea existed until I stumbled upon it by chance.

Food was OK. Veal was food. Vegetables were fresh and tasty. Potatoes were not flavorful at all. Horrible service. I ordered a side of pasta and waiter never came back to see if I needed anything. And should have checked to see if I got everything I needed. Wanted salt and pepper and waiter never came back to check on me. I was dining alone so not a lot of attention needed. Just service me like you would any other customer. .

The ambience is very nice. Not happy with the service, they took too long. All our dishes came out at different times. 15 to 20 minutes after a few meals. We wanted to eat together but couldn't. The bread was my favorite. Won't go there again.

I can't believe I had not been here before! We came for a little date night after a long weekend and were pleasantly surprised by the charming ambiance. We tried some of the salads, pasta, lamb and finished with coffee and cheesecake. Everything was delicious!

By far the worst service I've ever seen.
Almost 1h 40m wait and they only had 1 order out of 2. To top it off staff and manager were apathetic. Absolutely ridiculous. We just cancelled but I wish I cancelled sooner.

Super slow kitchen. Wait staff very friendly and try to cover for the slow food prep but seriously. 2 hours waiting for our meals to be served. Won't go back. Food was good though, gotta say

So, let me start with this was our favorite local Italian spot, but the amount of time it takes to simply order is ridiculous!
Mind you it's a Thursday night, not even a weekend..
20 minutes after being seated finally we get to order, our appetizer came out 40 minutes after we were seated, and now 1 hour later, still no food, and we ordered everything together because we were looking to get a quick dinner with the kids, but we were forced to tell the waiter to make our dinners to go. Very unacceptable!!

Wonderful restaurant. Great out door dinning under the stars in a beautiful courtyard. The owner Fred is so cool and attentive. I'm planning my 60th birthday here; as the banquet facilities seem so charming with endless possibilities. My favorite is the puffy fresh bread!

This is one of the worst restaurants I have been at. For what they charge, the food and service were terrible. We had large party that spent over $400 and 4 of the dishes had chicken that was clearly rotten. Instead of an apology the staff had an attitude. Even outside of the rotten chicken, the food tasted frozen and bland. For the prices they’re charging customers deserve way better.
Take your hard earned money elsewhere.

More than half the items my group ordered were out of stock, we were told they were out of pizza, and half way through our meal pizza was served to another table. They had 1 bottle of beer, and was out. When the owner was asked about our issues he blamed the waiter, who did nothing wrong. We had enough and vacated the premises.
I will never go there again. The food we did get was cooked terribly. The so called lasagna was more like a ricotta sandwich... Only a single layer between two noodles. The salmon was dry and tasteless. I would not recommend this place, the owner is rude and discourteous

I figured I should leave this review so people will also know the bad things about this restaurant.

We had dinner there last night for a party of 4. We were seated on our reservation at 8:15.
Bread came out at 8:45.
Our food came out a few minutes shy of 10 PM

The servers were all inexperienced and confused except for 1 and he even mentioned that he really was the only waiter there as the other ones only help him.

They kept bringing food to our table that we did not order and then you can visibly see them put it in other tables around us and have it turned away as well due to being a wrong

The food, drinks and surrounding was fantastic. We ordered appetizers, salad, and main dish.

Can go wrong with the clams and mussels cooked in white wine
Salad
De la Casa was scrumptious, the dressing was so unique made the salad one of a kind
Main dishes
Cant go wrong with lasagna, veal, gnocchi (potatoe dumplings) or farfalle with clam and lobster. All these dishes were 100% delicious.
Dessert
We had the tiramisu which I believed might of had a touch of Baileys that made it just right.
Overall, great hidden place in Whittier that serves great home Italian food.

I love this place. The patio has the best ambiance. We sat upstairs with a view of the courtyard below. The lights, the fountain, the music- all perfect! The warm ciabatta bread they bring before the meal is so good.
The food was amazing. A lot of people have commented on the service here being slow, but this is not a chain with a huge staff. This is a locally owned place where they take pride in the food and it is worth the wait. We had the nicest bus boy- he was very attentive. Beautiful ambiance! Great spot for a date or dinner with your favorite people. The mixed green salad was so good. Fresh hot bread to dip in garlic oil was prefect. We tried the lasagna & chicken limon, both plates did not disappoint. We will dine here again.

My one and only visit was exquisite. Lasagne was good... not overcooked, and not under-cooked. Just right. Ambiance had a quaint feel with a modern touch. The place is more akin to a high-end modern cafe with limited seating... similar to a lounge, but with tables. There was a party going on outside (they host events), but it didn't take away from the fun into which our party of four had delved. Service checked in from time to time. They let us have our conversations, but were attentive when needed. Parking is not abundant, so you might need to bring shoes appropriate for a short walk. That aside
