In 1977 the Dixie School District leased the Oakview School property to founder, Olga Scharninghausen. Olga founded the school as a play-based preschool, drawing on many theories from those of Reggio-Emilia, Jean Piaget and Maria Montessori, among others. We are proud to be one of the only truly play-based schools left in the area.

In 2019, after 12 years of teaching the TK class at Oakview, Lindsey Toomajian purchased the school and took over as Head of School and Director. Lindsey has a Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies from CSU Chico and countless Early Childhood Education classes from SFSU, COM and SRJC. We are fortunate to have many talented teachers who have been teaching at Oakview for years, some for 10+ years.
Services
Oakview preschool offers four bright classrooms, separated by age. Children move from one room to the next in September and continue in the class until the end of the school year in June. Each class is designed to engage children at their developmental level and aid them in reaching appropriate and attainable milestones.
When I started my daughter at Oakview at 2 1/2, she had only stayed with family and was very quiet and reserved with new people. Teacher Cheryl scooped her right up and she was instantly at home away from home. Over the past 3 years we have been so grateful to Teacher Eileen and Teacher Lindsey who encouraged her and helped her to flourish and grow into the confident 5 year old that she is.
