Coast Guard House
In the late 1800's, the United States Life Saving Service, now known as the US Coast Guard, built a station of solid granite perched overlooking Narragansett Bay. The architects, responsible for the resilient building, are the famed McKim, Mead & White. Today it is home to the Coast Guard House Restaurant.

The Coast Guard House Restaurant established itself in the 1940s and is revered for serving locally harvested seafood. The restaurant was transformed in 1979 to a year round dining destination. Over the past decade we have been recognized on a state and national level as a premier dining destination.

Our party of 8 reserved one of the igloos for a birthday celebration. Though the igloo was charming and wait staff terrific, the heaters were totally insufficient to keep us warm throughout our dining experience. Our food grew cold so quickly it was unenjoyable. The manager on duty did little to address our concerns, saying only that she would look into it. We went into the empty igloo next to ours and found it much warmer. Seems our heaters were totally insufficient to keep ours warm enough. So a note of warning, if it's too cold outside, don't spend the extra $100 for the igloo

We stopped by here enroute for our girls weekend at Newport to kick off our weekend by having lunch here. The place is fabulous! Bright, airy, and open with gorgeous views of the water.

We all had great cocktails and ordered the lobster roll. Quite a treat.

Good is delicious but fully staffed and few diners but my dinner arrived cold. Then we ordered dessert and cappuccinos but the dessert was long gone before the cappuccinos arrived. Disappointing and unacceptable.

Had an awesome dinner experience in the igloo. The service was great and it was a pleasant surprise during a cold winter night in a pandemic to enjoy the atmosphere of a cozy living room. Go before the sun sets to really enjoy the location! The stuffies are propper!

We had an igloo- it had snowed earlier, the sun came out, couldn't have scripted it any better. There were 6 of us and it was quite roomy and comfortable. Heated, soft seating, certainly wasn't Alaska! Our server Emma was terrific, start to finish. We had many appetizers, entrees and a few desserts with wines flowing. The food was perfect, as was the aforementioned server who provided great service. Her support staff was equally adept. It was a wonderful afternoon!

I'm wowed and impressed by the last visit we had to Coast Guard House. I'll admit that my first time there wasn't too memorable, or at least memorable enough to recall it was mediocre. However it's been a few years and this time was so spectacular I can't wait to come back.

First off, our server was so personable and knew the menu so well he was able to recite it, then write it down for us since we had waited for the rest of the party to show up for a bit. Then I was torn between choices as everything sounded so good. Started off with the shrimp and corn chowder off the

Awesome place to grab a bite and a drink! Affordable, friendly, and fast! What an incredible experience. The food was delicious, drinks were yummy, and the server we had helped us get in and out on a short timeline. We want to come back for a longer meal. This spot has a great view!

Another spectacular night at the Coast Guard House. Our family celebrated our granddaughter's birthday in one of the outdoor igloos. It was fantastic, beautifully decorated, with blue tooth music and the food was right on. From service to food, start to finish an A plus for the Coast Guard House.

Originally from Seattle where we had wonderful seafood, but now from New Mexico (do frozen fish sticks count?)..and now visiting Rhode Island. Wow, we had an amazing lunch of clams, mussels, shrimp, oysters and clam chowder with an incredible view of the ocean. Be still my heart! Fabulous food, and a delightful server by the name of Erin. She was friendly, knowledgeable and checked back with us often to see if she could make our lunch any better. It was a great visit to a great restaurant.

I can’t stop raving about this place. For starters Randall was amazing. He completely made us so comfortable and was such an amazing waiter. Literally the best. Secondly, the food was off the chart. I cannot wait to return. The views were incredible. Amazing. There’s nothing I was unpleased with. Also the margaritas were bomb. Bravo guys!!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My wife and I went to the Coast Guard House after a short hike. My wife got the lobster roll. So much lobster meat. Definitely worth the money. She said the meat was lightly dressed, just like she likes it.

I had the swordfish. A very beautiful presentation. The swordfish was superbly prepared. The rest of the dish was delicious.

In addition, I would like to thank Giselle. She was an excellent waitress. Very attentive to our dining needs. I would ask to be seated in her area.

I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good seafood prepared with care and excellence.

Just wrong!

We have visited this restaurant several times for special occasions and have been seated in the back corner next to the service door every time. The 4 times we have made a reservation, we have asked for a window seat...and every time have been seated at the last table in the back corner. I wouldn't have a problem with that if it weren't for the half-dozen empty window tables we passed while being led by the hostess. Each time we have asked to be relocated to one of the empty window seats and the best move we got was 3rd table from the back.

This last visit was the last

We still aren't sitting inside when we go to restaurants and man-oh-man, the patio at the Coast Guard house did not disappoint! We had excellent service and our food was really, really good. When I asked my server which of their specialty cocktails I should try, without hesitation he said: the Jameson Cold Brew. It was beyond delicious. My husband and I split the crab cakes and they were super yummy--flavorful, and moist.he has a seafood and pasta special that was OUTSTANDING and I had a veggies and lentils dish that was super different and a really nice change of pace! We had a fantastic dining experience this evening at The Coast Guard House. The wait staff was on top of their game. We had ordered appetizers and everything was brought out at the perfect temperature. They did a fantastic job at timing when they were bringing food out. Not everything was given to us at once. They kept a watchful eye to remove any used dishes immediately and kept our water glasses full. As for the food...spectacular!! For appetizers we split the calamari and the lobster bisque. I ordered the swordfish which was cooked perfectly. My hubby ordered the linguini and seafood special

I'd actually probably give it 4.5 stars if I could. My parents dined there the night before us and also had a wonderful experience.

We went on a Thursday night. We got there about 10 mins early and they told us our table would be ready at exactly 6. We walked back out front and sat on a bench watching a bride and groom have their wedding photos taken - it was so romantic!

We started with drinks off their fun summer cocktail menu. Neither disappointed. For appetizers, my husband had the lobster bisque and I had the stuffies. Lobster bisque was decadent. Not chunky. Smooth, thick

Great location, great view, and great food! My boyfriend and I went there last minute, was able to get a table without a reservation! But I recommend you to make a reservation so you don’t have to wait too long! Their food is very fresh and high quality, with great cocktail options. Plus, staff is very attentive and friendly. We would definitely go back when we are in the area!

This place is fairly pricey, but well worth it in my opinion. The views of the ocean alone are worth the expensive food. Everywhere you sit, you can get an amazing ocean view. The outdoor deck is amazing, but is closed when the weather is bad.

I decided to splurge on a mixed drink: The Gallagher's Folly. It was well worth it! Here's the ingredient list: Absolut Watermelon, Watermelon Bols, Lemon Juice, Lamarca, Midori, Dash of Grenadine. I don't know what half those things are, but I DO know that it tasted like an alcoholic watermelon slushie and I loved it! The presentation was

Everything was delicious here. From the raw apps to the entrees to dessert. And the waiter was great and friendly and we had some good conversation. It was night time and winter, so we had to sit inside, but the view of the waves crashing on the rocks was still awesome. Would definitely come back.

You can't beat the location. They've added outdoor seating and have heaters for cool evenings (we needed them even with sweaters in July). Wait staff was excellent. Some in our group enjoyed the mojito and the spicy margarita. Almost everything is a la carte. One in our group loved the fried clams. Scallops were fine and cooked correctly. Lobster tamale was good.

If you're in need of a special occasion restaurant, this is it. Dining on the edge of the water, stunning views, fantastic service and great food!

Came to celebrate a friend's birthday and was so thrilled to try this place. Weather wasn't cooperative for late May, but with a patio heater and sweatshirts on, we made the best of it.

We started with the calamari and the fried gnocchi. Huge fan of the calamari, one of the best I've ever had. Really fresh tasting, cooked perfect and the citrusy coating was bright and flavorful. Entrees were lobster roll, flank steak, house made

Amazing!!!!! Lobster roll was loaded with tons of lobster and the perfect amount of aioli added to it! The goat cheese gnocchi was a perfect appetizer and delicious as well!

They had a peanut butter whiskey/ ancho Reyes tequila spiked hot cocoa and that was my favorite part of the meal! Sprinkle of Chili powder on top of whipped cream was an added bonus as well! Especially perfect for the window day on the patio! They included fire pits and area heaters to balance out the chilly weather which was wicked comfortable.

The service was very attentive and very young but phenomenal and I can&apos

I forgot how much I liked this place, but visited a short while ago and I am very glad that I came back! The Coast Guard House is located right on the water in Narragansett, just steps away from The Towers and the beach. No matter the season, the views are gorgeous and totally stunning. Don't be fooled by just coming during the summer - the off season is just as lovely, and less crowded, which is a huge plus during a pandemic.

That being said, CGH is super clean and did a great job adhering to social distancing protocols, and I felt very safe the whole time I was there. They have limited

Multi visit Review from a local.

It's been a while Coast Guard House. I admit, I usually hit CGH for some drinks and a view when the weather is nice. I mean its an AMAZING VIEW!!! You can see the Newport Bridge clearly, the waves hitting Narragansett Beach, the beautiful Atlantic Ocean for miles and the lovely Towers . I have not, in the past, made my way to CGH because of the food.

HOWEVER, the team has elevated their food to the next level during this last year despite the pandemic. Bravo Chef Angel! Tonight's Lobstah' Mania coursed menu was absolutely 5 star. What a delicious

Stopped here after walking around Narragansett, watching the surfers, and strolling over hazard rock. A really cool town to spend a day if you're visiting RI.

To start I ordered the blood orange mule and it was good. A little sweet for me, if you're not big into sweet drinks I would opt for something else. We went ahead and ordered lobster rolls for lunch and they were fantastic! Loaded with big chunks of lobster mixed with a very flavorful dressing, all sitting in a perfectly toasted brioche bun. If you need a lobster fix this is a must order!

With a pretty view, historic building

My wife and I were invited to go to the Coast Guard House in beautiful Narragansett RI by our life long friends. I've never been there before, I know, that's crazy. It was fantastic, such a treat. Prices were very reasonable for high end dining. Our waiter was Gian. Now, I've eaten in wonderful restaurants all my life. This was the best, most patient, most professional, most friendly waiter I've ever had. When our food was ready to be served, four staff came to the table each carrying each of our meals, insuring no one had to wait for food. Perfect. The food was delicious and
