The inspection was performed and followed by a very informative summary. They spend time going through the photos which illustrate the findings that will be in the report. Their reports are well written with clear details of their findings. Andrew Amon did the Property Inspection. He seems to have a solid understanding of construction details. I would definitely entrust my next inspection to him.

Do not hire this company. Their incomplete job CAUSED WORSE DAMAGE to our home. They did not weatherproof this new door frame and storm door, or tell us we need to hire someone else to do so. The door frame installed by HomeGuard wicked in so much water, it spread to the laundry room next to the garage -- Just a slight touch with a paint brush, and the laundry room WALL adjacent to this door CRUMBLED. Outside, the wood is splitting, and mushrooms are growing in it.
They did a great job with inspections, and pest control for termites. However, they also didn't seal the new bathroom floor

About five months ago my wife and I bought our first single family home in Hayward. HomeGuard performed the initial home inspection and found minimal issues with our home; However, as soon as we got the keys we found a missed termite colony and broken tiles that led to a leak in our kitchen. HomeGuard's general manager promptly sent someone out to inspect the alleged missed termites, and found that they did indeed miss the termites. I bought a house where the sellers had done homeguard inspections. Even as a layman it was obvious that a lot of section 1 items had been missed on the termite inspection (I was able to stick my finger in soft spots in wood Homeguard missed and have it tear in my hand with termites literally pouring out). In addition, the repairs they did perform (which I unfortunately paid for), were unbelievable bad. I engaged another company to perform another inspection and they found 14 missed section 1 items, costing ~$10k+ to repair. That company quote, "couldn't decide whether the quality

The work that was done was decent. But the communication was subpar. Hourly fees were charged without any explanation as to what they were for so we ended up paying over 2000 dollars more than what we were told. When I contacted them, I got transferred to the different departments with no resolution and not a lot of kindness. I called and emailed a manager and received no response. We are quite disappointed. We used this company because that was what was recommended by the listing agent but it turned out to be a huge mistake.

You spoke with a customer who has been doing business with you sending you customers because he is a Broker, yet your rep John was unprofessional, rude, hostile and argued with the customer. Well John would not give Broker Mark, your corporate number or your supervisors number now you have some explaining to do.
This service has never sent anyone out, they always make us find someone to do the job, then they take money off the top of what you pay out of pocket to the service doing the work. Either they need to fix their customer service

HomeGuard was great! I called the office on Monday to schedule an inspection but they said that they were booked out for over a week. Then, on Tuesday, Curtis called me to inform me that they could complete all of the inspections the following day. They came out today to perform the inspections and were punctual and professional. Alright home guard manager came in today , found several termite spots, acknowledged their inspector missed many spots but didn't provide a solution either. They didn't send the report until I called them and the quote is 2k more and they let me decide if I want to pay them to fix, which is ridiculous, I bought a property with their cleared report but now I need to take care of termites from their negligent inspection.
I really need to decide the treatment plan asap and don't want to sleep with those bugs anymore. HomeGuard guy promised to call back today but it never happened.

Crap job! Spectators comes to my house to do full inspection. Said my trash compactor doesn't work. Dude should check to if it was plugged in or not before inputting into report.
Indicates some fungus and minor termite issues. The guy doesn't indicate precisely where it is located.
The repair guy can't locate where the issue is. Now the original inspection has to come back out to check. Another day wasted for me as no one else could be home to give them access to home.

Good customer service and we get report the same day or the very next day. Getting the report back quickly is a plus, because buyer have an advantage to get the seller to fix the problem before the contingency period or price negotiation.

They included false reports in my termite reports, I found that when actual contractors came out and repair the items. It was reported as fungus issue, but it was not. The problem was they replaced the wood members regardless and charged me for the repair. The wood members actually do not even match the original texture. It was the worst possible experience I've ever had with a contractor. Stay away from Homeguard.
*Update - Homeguard reached out and tried to resolve the issue. They reduced the cost by $375 and settled an agreement.
