Any security systems will need to be shut off during the testing, which can take several hours. Yes, we can still inspect the house, but there will obviously be a few limitations, the largest being the roof covering. When roof coverings are buried in snow, they can't be inspected. It's a lot more work for us to inspect houses when there's a lot of snow on the ground, but it's OK. We don't charge any more for the inspection when we have to trudge through the snow.
A typical home inspection will take 2-4 hours to conduct, depending on the size and condition of the home, and how many questions our clients have - we love questions. For first time buyers, our home inspections provide an excellent education on ownership and maintenance of the house. For the more experienced buyer, we'll focus more on major issues and general building science.
Several communities in the Twin Cities metro area require homes to be inspected by a licensed evaluator before they are offered for sale, whether the sale is public or private. These evaluations typically take less than an hour to perform, and we also offer Pre-Inspections. Below is a complete list of cities in Minnesota requiring a Truth-in-Housing/Time-of-Sale Evaluation.
Our radon testing services are designed for real estate transactions: we give a quick turnaround with 48-hour testing. We use continuous electronic monitors that give an hour-by-hour breakdown of the test results, and we have three licensed radon techs on staff. If you're interested in having your own home tested, your best option is to purchase a Do-It-Yourself test kit.
While any type of exterior wall cladding can experience water intrusion, the failures that happen with stucco are far more expensive and usually far more extensive. The city of Woodbury has an excellent position paper on Stucco houses that should be required reading material for anyone buying a stucco home in Minnesota.

As first time homebuyers, the pressure of making this monumental decision is a huge stress. Thankfully, we realized we had our best advocate in Eric Houseman. We hired Structure Tech to inspect a condo prior to closing. We specifically mentioned that we needed an inspection of the windows since we were aware that several units in the building experienced failure of the window seals.
The inspector found a few minor issues. He mentioned that the paint was chipped in a couple spots on a window frame, and one of the windows was not fully opening, but otherwise no issues were found.

I had my inspection done yesterday by Bryan and he was fantastic. He wanted me to follow him around, point things out, and have me ask questions. They are so thorough! Even my realtor was impressed by the report.
The report was long but contained pictures and links to helpful articles which was amazing. I'm a first time home buyer and don't know much about it so this was wildly helpful. I wouldn't use any other company in the future. They do cost more than competitors but the peace of mind is worth every penny.

I wasn't sure if we really needed to have an inspection on new construction. Our builder is very respected and a fantastic local company which I believe do the best they can. My inspector was Bryce Klym. He showed up a couple of minutes early and pulled his gear out, then at the appointment time explained how he would go about the inspection and told me to ask questions any time. He asked if I was a first time gone buyer, and then helped answer more questions about the inspection. My inspection was 4 hours long, and very thorough. Only picked them based on their yelp scores and so glad I did. We were able to schedule an inspection quickly. I'm not sure if you're able to request certain inspectors and I'm sure they are all great, but we couldn't be happier with Bryan. As first time Home buyers, we were unsure what to expect from the inspection. Jim was fantastic- he was professional, friendly, and he walked us through every question we had and took time to show us the things we wanted to see. The inspection took about 3.5 hours from start to finish, so expect a big chunk of the day- many of my home-owning friends and family members seemed to think a 20 minute inspection was acceptable but I really appreciated the thoroughness, and we found many things that we might have been paying dearly for in the next 1-2 years.
