If you own a vintage car, make sure a zinc and phosphorous additive is used when the oil change is performed. Automotive oil manufacturers removed these additives because they affected the catalytic converters in newer cars. Older vehicles still need them so make sure the proper additive is used during each oil change.
We agree with U.S. News' recommendations of 6 Car Repairs You Can't Afford to Skip: brake pads, oil changes, the air filter, a transmission fluid leak, burned out lights, and a clogged fuel filter. Yes, we are a Star Certified smog check station (formerly known as Gold Shield); we can diagnose your smog failure and repair it at a reasonable price whether it's "test only" directed or not.

These guys are great.
Needed some work on a Jeep I've had for a while and some work turned into a lot of work. They were super up front, no BS, went down the list of parts with options and professional recommendations (this isn't necessary and here's why etc) and even informed me of an airbag recall I'd been unaware of.
Work was finished in an incredibly timely manner, communication was great, and I feel like I'm driving a brand new car not my 12 year old Wrangler. Thanks dudes.

I had my car serviced here with no complaints and although a little pricey, it is worth it for quality work and the short walk from my offiice. I really want to like this business, however, I recently brought my car in for a check engine light issue. I give them kudos for being honest with me that it ended up being a loose gas cap, however I am very unhappy with paying $180 to diagnose this. I think mechanics should get paid for their time, but to me the reason you pay top dollar for service is because of the depth of experience that keeps you from having to shell out 100's of dollars for

These people are amazing! I brought my 2009 Honda in for annual service/maintenance and rode my bike home to wait for their call. I hardly had time to eat breakfast and have a cup of tea before they called to say it was ready. On top of that, the cost was only $159 compared to more than twice that for the same service in Berkeley. I am so grateful to support a local business.

I brought my 2000 VW here for service when it started making a terrible noise. Just a month prior, I spent $900 over at Marin Auto Science to get my car into good working condition, so I was pretty alarmed.
Mike called me and told me that he would do the repairs, but that I should also consider getting a new car if I wasn't attached to my car. These people are GREAT! Been taking my Volvo here for a while now. When I first brought in my car was in need of lots of TLC. Mike was awesome he laid out a list for me of what needed to be done by priority, he did not try and get me to fix everything at once. I never feel like I can not trust them, unlike a few places in Marin I have taken my older Volvo. Rosie at the front desk is also wonderful and very helpful!

I've had my 20-year-old Celica convertible serviced several times at A & A and find them to be courteous, fair and helpful. My daughter was staying in Sausalito for a week. She called me and said her car was making a squeeking, and metal on metal grinding sounds. I called A & A Auto because they were within walking distance of the houseboat she was on, and they had gotten a thumbs up elsewhere on the web. John took care of her and the repair came out to be $300 less than the estimate. The car is now fine and she has put many miles on it. I was very pleased.
