My family and I recently started taking classes at Pittman Academy and we are very pleased. Not only is the instruction exceptional but it is a great bonding experience as a family. I highly recommend checking out the academy to see if it a good fit for you! Love this place! Have seen an absolute turn around in my grandson with his attitude and outlook on life!
Do you want to help your child learn lifelong skills, establish habits of physical fitness, and give them a safe, structured, and supportive environment? I got recommended this place by my little brothers coach back in Houston who trained with Pittman back in the day. Had high expectations walking in but I'll cut to the chase. A couple things I didn't like. The belt system they use here is not the officially recognized jiu jitsu belt system. So getting a black belt here is about the equivalent to about a good blue belt at other places. It's overpriced for the level of skill you will achieve through ranking up in their belt system. Also, they have way more belts here that way they have more reasons to justify over charging, but they

WORLD CLASS BJJ. As an athletic guy in my 20s, I was immediately humbled by several of Pittman's red bar black belt students. Smaller, older, slower, it didn't matter. These guys had me gasping for air or wondering "what just happened", as they calmly defended my attacks and maneuvered from arm locks to chokes etc...
Going on two years of training , I now see the power in these techniques. Professor Pittman is the real deal. He builds students upon the fundamental techniques. By the time his students reach red bar, there is no situation that has not been trained and discussed in detail. Equally

As an MMA fan jiu jitsu has always been something I wanted to learn, I was gifted a free month of training at this academy and haven’t missed a class since. It’s a positive environment with a friendly and kind staff, I’ve even rolled(sparred) with students at other schools and the techniques I’ve learned translated perfectly to those situations. I’m glad I took the opportunity to try out the academy and encourage others to do the same!

My family of four has been attending the Pittman Academy for approximately 6 months. I am always pleased with the professional and knowledgeable instruction from staff. My daughters have fun with the lessons and are building confidence month by month. I trust Professor Pittman and his staff to teach my family BJJ in a safe environment with a positive mind set. This is my BJJ academy of choice for me and my family!

When I first arrived to Pittman's Academy, I came in timid and nervous. I've never had experience with any form of martial arts or self defense. Now, I'm going for my first degree black belt and I go in ready and determined to learn something new. I thank God for giving me this opportunity to learn from Professor Pittman and Ms G. People of God determined to share His wisdom as well. Here I learn the importance of wisdom when in a situation that might become physical. Though I have never been in a fight or started one, I now know what to say before using what I have learned. Pittman's Academy has

The owner is a disgusting and awful human. Verbally and emotionally abuses people. Uses his status as owner of gym to abuse his power for financial gain. Do not go to this gym. He is a fraud, a criminal and a con artist. Be warned. Check out other reviews online to see how bad he is thought of in the jiu jitsu community for dishonest belt rankings. Klay Pittman. Don't trust him.

My family and I joined Pittman's Academy around September and enjoyed attending the classes together. While I have not been able to make classes due to work, my husband and son continue to go. They look forward to going and enjoy the way Professor Pittman teaches and interacts with the class. It's been a great family experience.

Professor Pittman is personally committed to seeing his students succeed!! I recently started training under him and he has already called to check in on me several times, which shows how much he cares about his students. His down to earth style of teaching is easy to understand and follow!! I recommend him 5 stars!!!

Buyer-be-ware. Very aggressive sales tactics and they make you pay in advanced, THEN THERE IS NO REFUNDS.
Instruction is group based and no individual help unless you pay for the extra help session after the group lesson. Preach-ey lectures to accompany the lessons too.
I wish i had read the reviews. I agree with Joseph R- designed to separate you from your money and not teach

I'm a college student who has a friend who trains here. Friend convinced me to come in for free lesson....big mistake. 20 minute lesson followed by 45 minute hard sell. Something like $1,000 for couple months. I've trained in several larger cities and quickly identified this gym as a "mcdojo" more designed to separate college students from their money. I've since sparred with several of their students and it seems as if students pay for their belts as even higher ranking students has low technique. Two of their "brown" belts lacked skill required to test for blue

I haven't been to this place, nor would I ever sign my kids up here. Hard sales tactics, including approaching children in the toy section at a big box store, approaching shoppers in the grocery store and other places are def red flags in my book. I (and my kids) were approached multiple times a couple of years ago in this manner. A phone call to the business was met with total disregard. If your business needs to recruit this way, it is a HUGE red flag to me.
