West Texas Karate
Our Little Dragons Program not only focuses on Karate, but also character building and skills such as Balance, Coordination, Discipline, and Respect! Our American Kenpo program follows the Ed Parker system of Karate but also strives to be on the cutting edge of tactical self-defense and mixed combat.

The Instructor Training Program at West Texas Karate will help train you to become a future instructor of Tang Soo Do and American Kenpo Karate! Our mission is to teach traditional karate and help our students grow both mentally and physically toward their goals! We offer certified rank in both Tang Soo Do and American Kenpo, beginner to advanced, from White Belt to Black Belt and beyond!
Services
Tang Soo Do is a traditional martial art focusing on developing both physical and mental abilities. At West Texas Karate, we strive to ensure that each and every student learns to live in Moo Do (The Martial Way). This helps develop the individual in more ways than simply the physical.

Our students quickly learn that a traditional and disciplined approach to martial arts has immediate and long-term benefits that help them at school, at work, in other sports, and helps them through life's many challenges! We offer certified rank for Beginners (White Belts) to Advanced (Black Belts and Beyond!).
A fantastic complement to Tang Soo Do, American Kenpo offers a very tactical approach to self-defense offering students a great understanding into using fluid motions to evade, block, and counter a threat. American Kenpo Karate is a versatile martial art that teaches the student in a comprehensive and scientific manner to defend himself or herself.
Beyond the kicking, punching, and self-defense we teach our Lil' Dragons -- There are 8 Lil' Dragon skill requirements that are composed of physical, mental, and developmental benefits. Skill #1: FOCUS - Focus plays a key role in the mindset of children, who have limited attention spans. The Lil' Dragons class will teach your child to focus on the task at hand.

Great school with knowledgeable leadership, ready to train beginners to experienced practitioners alike. A traditional art from the ground up, to include weapons training and self defense. Advanced training is available for those who are up for a real challenge. Be prepared to put in the work, reward only comes with practice and dedication at this dojang!

I’ve been here for over a year I’ve loved every class I’ve been to! They’re a great group that pushes you to grow and doesn’t see you as just another number. The leadership really invests in their students. Very family friendly too. My confidence has grow so much since joining.

We have been with WTK for almost 4 years now, and couldn't be happier. My son started as a Little Dragon (age 4-6) and is now in the regular karate class. My husband and I are now both members, and our youngest is in Little Dragons. This is a family centered organization, where each person is always encouraged to do their personal best. Even during COVID they have maintained a friendly yet safe environment. It's actually the only extracurricular activity my family has kept up during the pandemic. They are absolutely amazing!!

My time at WTK was cut short by me moving away from Lubbock, but I highly recommend them. The instructors are amazing and treated me and my friends like family. WTK was an amazing experience and an amazing way to learn self defense for all ages. It’s a great place to build friendships and learn discipline. I learned things there I would’ve never learned anywhere else. If you’re looking to learn self defense or even just a new hobby it’s the perfect place to be.

My daughter was extremely nervous to start karate but this place set her at ease. They have a lot of girls young and old at their school and everyone is so great with new students. She has moved up a few belts and wants to be part of WTK forever which makes me feel more confident in her defending herself. Thanks for all that you all do for her

Master Hinkle and Bu Sabom Galvan are excellent! We have been so happy with experiences here. This school is a wonderful asset to their public school learning as well. I’d recommend this to anyone interested in physical fitness and mental discipline.

West Texas Karate has been my home away from home for 5 years now, and I have loved every minute of it! The instructors are always encouraging and everyone there has become like family to me. WTK has changed my life forever in the most positive way possible, it has given me more confidence, taught me respect for everyone around me, and I have absolutely fallen in love with martial arts. If you ever get the chance, drop in and talk to one of our instructors about starting your martial arts journey with West Texas Karate!
