Services
The Primary Montessori Day School is a private, non-sectarian, co-educational school for children age two (2) through nine (9) years old (Age 2 - Grade 3). It is a non-profit corporation, founded in 1998 on the premise that our schools are best in the hands of experienced educators. Thirty-four years of teaching the Montessori curriculum provide an extensive practical foundation for meeting the needs of young children and their parents.
A Montessori education brings out the individuality of every child, fostering their potential with an engaging and creative learning style. Through Montessori, children discover an appreciation of life and a respect for others that follows them into adulthood. Individualized learning plans: Through Montessori, your child is introduced to different ways of learning.
Parents looking for a balanced approach to learning - where social interaction, academics, music, the arts, play, and study are all included and balanced with each other - find the Montessori method an ideal fit for their children. Montessori is more than an approach to education. It's a way of seeing the world that fosters lifelong accomplishments.
With the nearly endless availability of computers, smartphones, tablets and televisions in our society, it's easy to think that screen time is something young children should become accustomed to. But this isn't the case when it comes to preparing your son or daughter for academic achievement. There are good reasons to limit your child's screen.
Primary Montessori Day School serves families in the Rockville, Maryland area with authentic Montessori education for their children ages 2 through 9. Most parents want to give their child the best education and help them grow to love learning. Along with being AMS & NCPSA accredited, Primary Montessori's caring teachers have AMS, AMI, or MACTE-approved post graduate certification in the Montessori method.

I loved this school when I toured it. Out of all 10 that I toured, PMDS stood out. It has a wonderful atmosphere unlike any other school - very large and bright classrooms, clean and organized, caring teachers and quality child development program. I enrolled my daughter despite the negative reviews and I'm glad I did. She loves it, got adjusted very quickly, and I see the kindness and care and the fun educational activities she's getting there. They want to be the best school, so they may have more "rules" but if you're an engaged parent and follow all the communication

Love, care, personal attention, educational excellence, the highest standards. Those are few words that come to my mind when I think about PMDS. When we were looking for school for our son, we were worried, as he didn't Speak English (3 years old). In addition, he is always trying to do everything by himself, and of course, as every parent that loves his/her kids, he is very special to us. All our worries proved to be wrong, he started picking up language right away (yes, he wasn't able to speak in English freely right away, but he was comfortable communicating with teachers, school staff

I just called to ask some questions about their school for kindergarten and instead, they were mean and disrespectful. They had the nerve to say in order for any child to attend their school they must be enrolled until the child is 9 years old..... REALLY!!!! You can not make anyone attend your school for many years. It's up to the parents and child if they think your school is good enough to even consider to continue a second year. I heard and read from others they are only MONEY HUNGRY!! I definitely will be reporting this school.

You really need to fix/provide assurance to improve the image of your school. I was going to come and get a tour of your school and I am now afraid below might happen:
- The quality of admins & teachers
- The quality of care
- Payment reimbursement when you want to take kids out of school for any reason, could be you are moving

- Security of my kids, if a school has bad reputation then how can they focus on keep the kids safe and secure. Please remember the reputation is formed based on some facts if not all is a fact.

My daughter is a 11th grader now. This review is for her years of Pre-K to Kindergarten at PMDS from 2005 to 2008.
She got in MCPS magnet schools in Elementary school, Middle School, and International Baccalaureate program of Richard Montgomery High School. Other than maintaining almost a 4.0 GPA, she got a 36 perfect score in ACT in September of her Junior year.
I had a discussion with my daughter what made her interested in learning so much. She recalled her early school years with PMDS and thanked me (and daddy) sending her there.

After reading some negative reviews, I found that giving a

We have had one or more of our daughters attending Primary Montessori Day School for the past 7 years. All of our daughters consider Primary to be their second home. They LOVE being at school each day. Primary is truly a magical place to learn to socialize with a diverse population and to advance academically. Our eldest daughter completed the Montessori cycle through Primary's last offered year of the third grade; she then easily transitioned to our public school for the fourth grade. She even became the class president of her public school. Primary had well prepared her to speak with confidence

It is our fourth year since my daughter has started attending Primary Montessori school. It's been such a great experience and she really enjoys every day of her school life. There is no day when she comes home without bringing news about an interesting project or team work or a field trip. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking for great educational experience and nurturing and safe environment for his or her child.

Reading the reviews for Primary Montessori prompted me to share my experience with the school....in hopes that it can be beneficial to future parents who may be considering this school for their kids. My son started in the Twos program after being at home the entire time. It took him some time to get adjusted but the staff was so welcoming and patient that at times, I would randomly call and ask if someone can check in on him for me and they would do so and promptly call me back with an update. I have noticed such a tremendous growth in my son since he started at Primary Montessori and can&apos

Both of my kids (7 and 5 years now) attended Primary Montessori and it’s a school that I would highly recommend. The teachers are knowledgeable, attentive to each child’s specific needs, and are genuinely passionate in helping the students learn and to develop their interest for learning. The teacher assistants and administrative staff at Primary are also wonderful, I honestly can’t think of any issues I’ve had with the school or any individual staff in the 5 years that my children were there.
The teacher-student ratio is low, each child’s developmental/academic progress are tracked

Academically I have seen my son's excel under the guidance of the teachers. My sons loved going to this school and I look forward to many positive experiences for my daughter. The teachers are caring and nurturing. They very quickly identify a child strengths

We LOVE Primary Montessori Day School. We've been with this school for nine years, when my oldest daughter started as a three year old. She stayed through Elementary and now our younger daughter is about to complete kindergarten and move to the elementary room. The holistic Montessori education children receive here is amazing and sets the bar so high! This school takes young children in and helps them grow into confident, kind and smart learners. Both of my girls have learned to love learning. They are happy, curious and broad thinkers. I cannot say enough fantastic words about the school, its

My youngest daughter has been with the Primary Montessori Day School since she was two. She will be a rising kindergartner this coming Fall. Ever since the very first day I walked in school building for a visit, I fell in love with the school's cozy homey atmosphere, wonderful smiles from each teacher, art decor throughout all classrooms. Without any doubt and any further school visit, I made an immediate decision that the Primary Montessori Day School would be the place for my daughter.
For the past three years, my daughter has blossomed into an independent little person with full of curiosities

My older son has attended PMDS since age three, my younger son since age two ( based on our stellar experience with our older son). We have been at PMDS for 3 years now, and could not have wished for a better school. It is an understatement to say that they are dedicated to early education. I cannot think of a more warm and loving environment for a child to flourish. The faculty is incredible. From lead teachers to assistant teachers, to art and language teachers the dedication is consistent . The teachers are dedicated to each child's individual advancement in learning. Work plans are child driven

The 'Business Manager' has the nerve to tell me that my review is wrong. Um...NO. I remember on the tour I specifically ASKED why this child was sitting alone and forlorn and miserable and IGNORED by the staff. They informed me that the child's parents had forgotten to pack a swimsuit for water play.

In addition to this Money Making Scam School That Hates Children being cruel to the kids, they have almost no parking and no real play area to speak of. Never send your children here. It is a rip-off of the highest magnitude, and they are very unkind to children. And dishonest to the

I've had two kids attend PMDS. Based on the amazing experience my older son had, there was no doubt that his brother would also attend the same school. PMDS is the best Montessori school in the area, the facility is spotless, the staff is amazing, and the level of commitment of the staff is unmatched. My kids flourished at this school and learned so much. I cannot think of a more warm and loving environment for a child to flourish. My older son who's now entering 3rd grade at a public school still talks about his time at PMDS. The teachers are so supportive and dedicated to each child's individual

Here's the update. I got an "innocent" email from Yelp suggesting that maybe, possibly, could it be, hopefully, I made a mistake and the review does not belong to PMDS. Oh no, it definitely belongs to your school. There is no question. I have cancelled checks showing over two years of tuition for my son and 1/2 year for my daughter. I have copies of the nasty letters the director sent to parents. Most importantly, I have the two children, husband, and grandparents who had direct and negative contact with PMDS. I made no mistakes on my assessment. But, you guys are more than

I have three kids (ages 2,4,6). My 4 and 6 year old have both been at PMDS since they were two. I don't think a better program exists anywhere else. My kids love going to school every day and the things they learn amazes me. The cost of the tuition is completely justified when you see what these kids are learning. When I first looked at schools for my eldest daughter, I toured a few. The environment of the classrooms at Primary are amazing. They are very bright and have tons of natural sunlight from the windows, they are very well maintained, and you just feel like learning! I knew right

Sent my younger brother here who is 12 years younger than me. I question if this school is worth it as it has bad management and the kids perform worse than public school kids by the time they graduate - so do us all a favor and save you $$.

I am really disappointed in this place, they're just banking on their name and deliver no "real value" to hard working family members.
