Services
The program at Rockville Nursery School and Kindergarten is designed to provide for the total growth of a child within an environment in which children are encouraged to explore, pretend, create, express feelings, display emotion and experience joy. As we bridge the gap between home and school, we guide children toward a good self-image while helping them to develop their skills.
Sarah Schmid is the RNS&K Director. This is her 21st year with RNS&K. Sarah has a dual Bachelors of Arts degree from Frostburg State University in Early Childhood & Elementary Education. She has graduate coursework from Frostburg State University, Trinity College, as well as the University of Maryland.
We are looking forward to being with your children. We have developed a program that we feel will meet the needs of your children and will make this a meaningful and happy experience for them. We will incorporate science (which includes cooking activities and experiments), music, dramatics and creative movement, and math into our curriculum schedule.
Our PreK program is designed to meet the needs of four and five year old children. This class will work in small groups, and at times one-on one to develop appropriate foundation reading, math, science, social studies language and handwriting skills. These Pre K students will have the opportunity to move ahead based upon their motivation, maturity and readiness level.
The Rockville Nursery School and Kindergarten admits students of any race, color, creed, religion, gender, (we attempt to maintain a gender balance in each classroom), ethnic background or national origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students of the school.

We loved RCNS for my eldest. She has been happy there for 3 years including a year of zoom school (due to covid). My youngest is very excited to start next year. I can't recommend it highly enough.
