Stuck in the past in all the best ways. Service was super, coffee and cake was yummy.
Four of us dined- lamb was the epitome of how braised lamb should be. Plenty of lunches and entrees to choose from.
Can't wait to return. It always appears "slow", I've never seen more than three parties in at a time. So it's quiet and oh so worth it.

There is a bit of competition in Manchester NH for Greek food. The others may be trendy, or look nice and Americanized.
If you want authentic, addicting, home-cooked Greek food, go here. Having visited Greece and plenty of the competition nearby, this is the best you will find for a long distance. The Moussaka is the best I have ever tasted and the Baked Lamb is also fantastic. The Union Leader is right to name this restaurant the Best Greek year after year.

Not fancy but surely authentic. Greeted by the owner. The real deal. Blue and white. The musaka was out of this world. Greek salad perfect. Friendly staff. Clean. Good value and had plenty to take home. Definitely would visit again if passing by Manchester. Plenty of parking options. Right near the arena/event center downtown, walking distance. But security would not let me take in leftovers. :(
Recommendation: Play some Greek music in the background!

I would literally die without Athens in Manchester. There isn't one thing about this place I don't love. The food, chefs, servers, the adorable hostess, I absolutely love everything about them. My only stop on fish Fridays during lent, and at least once a week the rest of the year for all things lamb and veggies. Thank you Athens!!

When I'm back in my hometown of Manchester, I've always gotta make my stop at The Athens Restaurant to get my favorite Stuffed Grape Leaves with lemon sauce and Greek potatoes, and avgolemono soup (lemon-chicken soup). It's the best! My friends and family like to get their Pastichio (Greek lasagne) and Lamb dinners here too. The Athens has been around for as long as I can remember, and you don't last that long if you don't have good food and treat your customers right! They are located in Downtown Manchester, on Central Street, just off Elm Street across from the Center

My wife and I went to Athens after a hockey game at the SNHU Arena. It's a family run Greek restaurant with classic style and charm.
We both ordered the lamb (mine on a stick and my wife got the roasted lamb). It was delicious, tender and juicy. The portions were large (we both took home leftovers and got another meal out of it) and fresh.
The service was great. My wife has allergies and the waitress made sure the kitchen knew about it and accommodated us. When we asked to substitute a desert type on the Sunday Special menu, they allowed us to do that without any up charge.

A friend asked us to go to the Athens last Saturday evening. After arriving we had to wait about 15 to 20 minutes to get seated even though there were many open tables. In a few minutes out waitress took our drink orders and I ordered a Bombay Sapphire on the rocks. I have had this many times at various restaurants so I am familiar with the taste. I don't know what I received, but I feel sure it was a substitute liquor. Some places play this game to make more profit with cheaper liquor but thankfully, not many. I have only had three occassions over the last 40 years including this one.

Nice location, chefs are Greek, owner is Greek so you can expect genuine answers to your questions, there is not much is menu but food that they serve is awesome. Less options in steak expect fish n lamb it's Greek :) Vegetarians stay away unless you wanna drink a Greek coffee or a salad :) Ambience can be improved a little :)

I am shocked at seeing even one bad review for this classic Greek restaurant. My family has been coming here for years and it's the first place we've found that even comes close to the flavor a of the Greek food restaurants I ate at as a kid.
Service is always fast and friendly even when it's busy.
Lamb, either baked or the roasted shoulder is moist and tender and never fatty like lamb can sometimes be. There is something about their red sauce that is addicting. My guess is that they put some sort of illegal substances in It to get you hooked and yearning to come back for more

I've thrown this place a lot of business over the years, even going so far as to have them cater a high school reunion, and so I count myself among their most loyal customers.
Don't tell anyone, but the best things on the menu here are:
1. The roast shoulder of lamb with garnish. Get extra potatoes. Skip the rice. No I don't know how they make them taste so good. I asked my waitress once if she would clue me in, and she said they are made with tomato paste and lamb fat, which explains very little.
2. The tuesday-only vegetable soup with crusty bread.
Absolute heaven on Earth.

I have gone to Athens 4 or 5 times now. My old supervisor from back in the 90s lives in the area also and loves this place so when he goes he sometimes calls me. I have to say...next to my mother's lamb..and she even admits this because I bought her a plate it's the best lamb shoulder I have ever tasted. It falls right off the bone. They give you huge portions also. Don't let the outside fool you...the food here tastes like home cooked. It's just outstanding food. Also it's nice and clean and the staff are very warm. If you want a good, old fashioned home cooked Greek

Looking for Greek food in Manchester, my friend and I found Athens Restaurant. We arrived here on a quiet Wednesday evening and we were the only customers in the restaurant. The menu had appetizers (lemon soup, feta cheese & olives), Greek specialties (spanakopeta, lamb, chicken, fish, but no gyros?), and very limited desserts (cake & baklava).
For appetizers, we ordered the Stuffed Grape Leaves with lots of lemon sauce, the Taramosalata (red caviar dip-tasted like hummus) and a Greek Salad for two (the feta cheese was sliced, not crumbled).
We were given greek bread with our meal. (no
