I bring both personal and professional experience with death and grieving to every counseling situation, which includes the creation of this set of grief counseling resources. I know them to be the best available online today. Whether your loss has been sudden or expected, I'll help you learn to cope with the depth of emotions and experiences that are part of healthy grieving.
Here you will find different links to local businesses that provide helpful products and services. When a death occurs, the order in which things need to be done often depends on where the death occurred. That's why we suggest that you ask a friend for help - someone who is more able to think clearly, and give you the support you need.

Used to be family-owned, and well run ... recently not so much. Have sold out to a conglomerate, let their best funeral director go, and now are solely concerned with making money for the new company. The caring, compassionate atmosphere has been replaced by one of profits first, and the empathic staff have been replaced by mercenaries. Hints of unethical and unscrupulous business behaviors.

I can't say enough about the service from Olthof's. I have attended a couple funerals and calling hours here and the service has always been exceptional. At one event it was raining and staff was on hand to help people to their cars with umbrellas. Recently, a friend of my parents passed and I didn't have any contact information for the children but wanted to express my condolences in person. I shared my phone number with Olthof's staff and they were kind enough to contact the family, even thought the series had already taken place 2 weeks earlier. The family then contacted me due to Olthof's kindness

My mom was cremated on February 22,2020 when I spoke and made arrangements Thursday with Jody she informed me that it would be a few days before Medicaid/Medicare would approve it so I was looking at Monday to be called so I can bring personal items for her to be cremated with. So this morning (Monday) I received a phone call telling me my mom was cremated Saturday and no phone call was ever made so I could bring the two most important things of my mothers that belonged to her. This is completely unacceptable

The only funeral home in the Elmira area for the best, compassionate, highest quality wake and funeral service. They do it right everytime. Nothing but the best for the deceased and the family. The funeral home is spotless and does not smell inside like others in the area. It is easy to access for the disabled and has plenty of parking too.

They are a caring funeral home and have done wonders for my family when we have needed them over the years and most recently for my Aunt Char Galpin. The first time I was there was 12 years ago this month for my Grandpa Galpin's services and then 9 years ago for my Grandma Galpin. 3 very special people in my life!!
