The principles taught reinforce what we are trying to cultivate in our family: compassion, strength, knowing who you are and taking care of yourself and others in healthful ways. This is not a sport- it is a way of life and an incredible journey that creates new paths and possibilities!

I could sing campfire songs all day about the benefits I have received during the last 3 1/2 years I have been training at the Boulder Quest Center, but for brevity, please know, that the To Shin Martial Art taught there is legit self defense appropriate for ANYONE regardless of age, experience or level of athleticism. The instructors at BQC are as inspiring as they are knowledgeable and the dojo is an ego-free zone where EVERYONE encourages each other to succeed. To Shin Do is best experienced first hand, so I would encourage anyone reading this review to take BQC up on their 30 day free trial

Every time I go the staff is warm and friendly. The staff have a real passion in teaching and exploring the To Shin Do curriculum and are not afraid to challenge their students from getting outside of their comfort levels in a safe and controlled manner. Even though it is a mere hour commute, I am never disappointed in the level of training and enthusiasm provided by the Boulder Quest Center

This incredible dojo holds space for individual growth, martial arts camaraderie, and a variety of ancient techniques preserved over time that are now available to learn.
The teachers are enthusiastic, engaging & full of wisdom to pass along to generations to come.

I have been training at Boulder Quest Center for a little more than 2 years now and feel that starting here was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I have physically become more agile, versatile and have more confidence in my ability to protect myself, my family and others. On top of all that, I have developed a more positive and understanding outlook on my personal life and the world. The staff are all very knowledgeable, patient, positive and honest. They hold nothing back, in the best way possible. Love training here with all the students and learning from everyone!

We’ve been a part of Boulder Quest for the last two or so years. My son, 10, and daughter, 13, are both students. I’m so grateful for what Boulder Quest offers my kids and brings into our family. The emphasis is on confidence, clarity, kindness, and integrity, and the philosophy is deeply integrated into the pedagogy. I’m a dancer and can say that Boulder Quest also offers a really smart and nuanced somatic practice, one that is useful in and of itself or serves as a great foundation for other physical practices. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

The Boulder Quest Center is an incredible place. The community is comprised of the best people I know. To Shin Do as a martial art is both practical and very fun, and the whole system has been one of the most powerful forces for good and personal empowerment that I have had the amazing opportunity to witness. After 12 years of training here, the amount of person growth I have observed continues to astound and amaze me. I highly recommend this place for anyone, whether you want to learn good and practical self defense, personal empowerment, or just really like to be around good and genuine people

The instructors and staff here are some of the most genuine people I have ever met. They all care deeply about each students development and progress. The art taught at the Boulder Quest Center is top notch, focusing on reality based self-defense of body, mind and spirit. You won't find people here doing forms and katas to music, but rather, real people from a variety of backgrounds practicing how to make the world a better place.

My experience at Boulder Quest Center has been nothing short of fantastic. The martial art taught at this school is focused on self-protection and expanding personal boundaries. Having trained in a variety of other martial arts and systems, I can say the experience I have had at this school is top notch. Here you will find individuals developing personal power and learning life saving techniques that work in the real world. I wholly recommend doing their free one week trial to see if this is a good school for you or your kids.

Martial Arts here focuses on self defense. It also focuses on non-violence and inspires: leadership, awareness and presence in everyday life. The coaches, trainers and instructors here work very hard to inspire all these traits in an ongoing mission to create better defenders and leaders within society.

My son wanted to do martial arts. We are unschoolers - a form of homeschooling so we wanted a class situation that was not centered around school grades and punishment. Many martial art studios are very authoritarian. We spent some time going to different locations. Then we went for a class at Quest and fell in love. My son loves it and has been doing it for a year. My husband got involved too! It has helped my son a lot with attention - he is 6. They are great with kids and do not treat kids as an after thought. They do not do time outs - which was a deal breaker for me at other
