Aikido Kokikai Orange County
Aikido the art of non-violent self-defense. We use the attacker's momentum and body mechanics against them. This means it is an art for everyone - you don't need to be bigger or stronger than your opponent. This makes us one of the most accessible types of martial arts, open to all people and body types.

Aikido is fun, good exercise, and builds skills like balance and confidence that are key in daily life. We're a friendly dojo founded in 2015, with close ties to the national Aikido Kokikai Federation. The head instructor, Sam-Sensei, has been practicing aikido for 15 years and founded AKOC when she moved to town.
Services
We have resumed face-to-face, indoor practice. In accordance with suggestions from our national organization as well as CDC guidelines, participants must be fully vaccinated and/or masked. Please bring proof-of-vaccination to your first practice, and make sure to have a comfortable, well-fitting mask.

I have been taking Aikido classes here with Sam Sensei for about two months now. The classes are fun and engaging. Sam Sensei takes time to explain the technique step by step and provides grate tips on to refine the technique or how to adapt it as needed. She introduces new forms with each class while taking the time to revisit some of the ones practiced in previous classes. I strongly recommend her studio to anyone who is interested in aikido. You will not find a more nurturing environment.

I've been an aikido practitioner since high school (approximately 15 years), and received my 1st degree black belt in summer of 2017. I've moved a lot in that time and trained with lots of different dojos. I mention that only to give it a little more weight when I express how much I enjoy training with Sam-sensei at Kokikai OC. Sam is an educator by trade and it really comes across in how patient she is with students and he knack for explaining things concisely. Kokikai is a new style for me, and Sam is extremely encouraging of me and my journey to find the specific kind of aikido that suits me

The instructors are great with beginners and really make the effort to make sure you understand the techniques. As someone who was new to Aikido before attending my first class, I am very please with their extra individual instruction. There is a real community at the dojo and I am looking forward to continuing my practice at Aikido Kokikai Orange County!

I'm biased because I love practicing Aikido and am engaged to Sanpisa Sensei... but the instruction here is pretty awesome! Thanks Sam Sensei and Sanpisa Sensei for great classes, a fun learning environment, some physical exercise in the bright SoCal Sun, and the best dojo nature has made :)

These Aikido classes are amazing as they are taught outside in a relaxed environment. The students vary in skill, so everyone can check it out, even if you are a beginner like me.

Sanpisa has practiced Aikido for over 9 years and is a friendly and skilled instructor with outstanding credentials. All the instructors are very welcoming and knowledgeable. It's a great group to join if you want to learn or practice. There is a true love and respect for this martial art and it's a very special place to hone your skills.
