Did you know the name "Arizona" itself is an Indian word? It means "little spring" in the language of the O'odham people. And though our roots, culture and heritage stretch back thousands of years, today Tribal Gaming empowers our tribal communities to provide necessities such as healthcare, education, infrastructure and other community services.

Learn more about the many ways Tribal Gaming helps Tribes sustain, nurture and protect their culture for future generations. Tribes share a portion of their revenues with the State, local cities and towns and charities throughout Arizona. In fact, Tribes have contributed over $1.2 billion dollars dedicated to Education, Trauma Care, the Department of Tourism and Conservation.

We are a grass roots organization of individuals, businesses, Tribes, not-for-profit and for-profit organizations who support the many benefits experienced by the people of Arizona as a result of the current government-to-government gaming compacts that Tribes in Arizona have entered into with the State.
Arizona School Districts receive 56% of the revenue deposited in the Arizona Benefits Fund each year which they spend to improve instruction in the districts' schools. Since this fund was established, Tribes have contributed over $624 million to improve education for Arizona's children.

Hospitals and trauma centers throughout the state receive 28% of the revenue deposited in the Arizona Benefits Fund each year to reimburse hospitals for uncovered trauma and emergency services.Since this fund was initiated, hospitals have received over $312 million to support critical services.
When many Arizonans think about Tribal Gaming, the first thing that comes to mind is the bustle of lights and excitement of the casino floors, or the variety of entertainment options at each casino. Though Tribal casinos have been a vital part of Arizona's. More than 300 people attended the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Today, Tribal Gaming is fulfilling its promise to be an important economic engine, not just for tribal people, but for all Arizonans. Ten years ago the voters of Arizona passed Proposition 202, which expressed their strong support for continuing Indian gaming on tribal lands. Since it was established, tribes have contributed over $1.4 billion to Arizona via the Arizona Benefits Fund.
In 2002, the voters of Arizona approved Proposition 202 which continued gaming on Indian lands and shared a portion of gaming revenues with the State of Arizona and local governments. That Proposition created what is known as the Tribal-State Compact.

The Arizona Tribal-State Compact is an agreement between sovereign Tribal governments and the State of Arizona that provides the framework for well regulated, limited, Tribal gaming that benefits both Tribes and the State.Though all are similar, each Tribe has its own Compact with the State of Arizona.
