Welcome to counseling and therapeutic services with Laura K. Orlich, LPC, PLLC, where you, your spouse or someone close to you can learn to explore and heal issues associated with disordered eating, depression, anxiety and relationships. I believe that therapy is an incredible opportunity to embark on the journey you need to take to realize who you are and what you need to move forward.

If you're feeling lost, hopeless or dissatisfied, or are caught in a cycle of self-harming/dysfunctional behaviors that you feel unable to control, change is possible. With my guidance and support, I believe you can not only achieve your therapy goals, but can thrive beyond what you previously thought possible.
Services
Before I became a therapist in 1994, I spent 21 years as an educator. I was working in Kansas City at the secondary level with gifted youth when I realized my responsibilities as a teacher often crossed over into therapeutic work, both for the kids and their families. I was guiding them, helping them transition, expand and grow, but I also felt like I didn't have the necessary training to provide that kind of specialized support.
Are you constantly preoccupied with or overwhelmed by thoughts about food? Perhaps you spend a considerable amount of time and money on activities related to, or to compensate for, unhealthy eating habits, such as consuming primarily junk or health foods, frequent grocery visits, trips to the drive-through or time at the gym.
Do you constantly feel on edge, overwhelmed or anticipate future events with worry? Do racing thoughts impact your ability to relax, concentrate on tasks, manage stress or engage socially? Perhaps you often feel out of control, like you can't let go or as if something is about to turn horribly wrong.
Are you unable to see the colors in life and fear there is no way forward? Are you overwhelmed by melancholy or fatigue? Have painful thoughts, emotions and physical discomforts become routine? Perhaps you're over-eating or can't seem to eat anything at all. Do you abuse substances to numb emotional pain?
Do you feel misunderstood, alone or unloved in your marriage or partnership? Perhaps your interactions are overshadowed by long spells of silence, or you continue to have the same disagreement/fight over and over. Do you wish you could feel more desired and cared for and able trust in your and your partner's capacity to overcome challenges as a team?
