Nelson Funeral Home
Thank you for visiting. Nelson Funeral Home has been servicing the community since 1961. We hope you find our web site useful in answering the questions or concerns you may have. Please feel free to visit our funeral home at anytime to see our facilities and meet our dedicated staff. Once you request the services of Nelson Funeral Home, we will immediately put our experience to work for you.

We will explain your options, make recommendations at your request, take care of all the small details, and ensure that you and your family's personal touch is always present. A Word of Thanks. It was a difficult decision to leave this space that we've been in since 1929. With no other viable options to relocate in a reasonable and dignified setting, this plan of action was necessary.
Services
Generations of Caring Beginning in 1929, our tradition of offering caring, compassionate service began when August Nelson, a prominent Swedish funeral director, founded a funeral service on North Ashland Avenue, in the Summerdale district of Chicago. August Nelson's primary intention was to provide local families with a comfortable funeral establishment that would be committed to caring for each individual's unique needs.
We understand that making the many decisions which come at a time of loss can be difficult. We offer our support by providing you with two options as you consider making immediate arrangements. With online Arrangements, you can take your time to select the arrangements which are best for your preferences and budget.
Staff members of Nelson Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors. Eileen Baldeshwiler, originally of Lansing, Illinois, obtained her degree in Mortuary Science from Malcolm X College in 2012.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.

We pre-arranged service for my mother-in-law when she had a fall and broke her hip and went in to memory care after rehab. Although it is never a pleasant experience to plan for death, we are glad the memory care facility required it as part of the great spend down that the elderly face when they lose their independence. The time to use this plan came much quicker than we thought it would, but Mike was able to put the plan in motion quickly and her memorial service went wonderfully. We had the cremains back in time for the service, the prayer cards, and other little details were all ready as promised

Unfortunately, we had 3 close family die between September 2018 and May 2021. The extreme compassion we were shown at the first compelled us to return to Nelson two more times. Karen went so beyond for us; we are eternally grateful.

We had our father’s service today. This location is beautifully decorated and the staff were very attentive to whatever we needed.
There was one hiccup with a missing obituary on their website, which they immediately took care of.
My only suggestion would be to find a way to add an elevator for access to the lower level.
We would absolutely use this location again, should the need arise. Thanks to Debbie, Stephanie, and Jessica for their services.

Mike our funeral director was amazing! In this difficult time, He was caring, thoughtful and made a difficult process a lot easier than I expected. Everything went extremely well, the minister even carried the crowd. I would highly recommend NFH to anyone who finds themselves in need.

We were so fortunate to have Eileen Baldeshwiler as our funeral director. She made the heartbreaking task much easier and was so gentle and caring and helped us every step of the way. I so appreciated her, she felt more like a family member. Such a sweet soul she has. The funeral home itself was lovely and they did an excellent job from the wake through to the funeral and the cemetery. I highly recommend Eileen and Nelson Funeral Home and I can understand why it was my moms choice. Thank you again Eileen, sorry this review is so past due!

Nelson Funeral Home in Park Ridge provided us with a superior environment for the memorial service of our dearest departed, with attention by Michael, Meghan and Jessica to every detail on the day of and in the planning process. Through a very rough time, starting with Eugene Cha and Stephanie, all were professional to the utmost, empathetic and caring. Our lasting memories are better because of the staff and we thank you.. God Bless.

I had to arrange a service a short while back. The staff was extremely pleasant and easy to deal with and took very good care of me in my time of need. Lauren the office lady was really wonderful. Everyone is very detail oriented. This is the first time that I've had to do this kind of thing on my own and they were very patient with all of my questions. They asked a few questions that I hadn't thought of. They even arranged military honors for my pops and I felt like it was tasteful and respectful. When you are in a state of loss it is wonderful to have someone there to help you with every little
