Services
When we married in 1997, we were both therapists in private practice. We brought our practices under one roof, forming a home- based center along the river, with a garden and outdoor gazebo office. Since then we've watched our practice thrive, and are grateful every day to share work we love. In addition to working as therapists, we're active volunteers.
EMDR (www.emdr.com) is a quick and effective technique for certain forms of anxiety and intrusive memory, including trauma. Clients use simple equipment in the office(headphones, a light-board, and/or pulsers) to alternate stimulation of the right and left brains, while attending to one or more charged memories.
Research shows that when the bond between two people is strained, even if they learn communication and conflict resolution skills, they often don't use them. When there's little trust and goodwill, the smallest events ignite blame and misunderstanding. We can help you understand your painful and repetitive dynamics, and communicate and respond to the needs underneath them.
We work with individuals, couples and families. Feel free to check with us if you want to be sure that the issue that brings you to therapy is well within our expertise. We'll be happy to make a referral elsewhere if you need something specific that we can't address. Many clients come with a blend of issues that span individual, couple, and family therapies.
If you're considering therapy, you're probably seeking change. You may have concerns with a mood, like depression or anxiety, that has been present for years. Or perhaps more recent events, like a loss or trauma, have upset your stability. Maybe a compulsive coping pattern, like over-eating, over-spending, or reckless sexual behavior, has shown you that it's time to get help.
